Inter Milan are to undergo a massive clear out this season, and with Luciano Spalletti already kicked to the curb and Antonio Conte likely to replace him; the former Chelsea man has his eye set on a Premier League raid.
Conte has apparently announced his plans to Inter and has claimed that both Chelsea’s Victor Moses and Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku are players that he wishes to have at the San Siro.
The Italian club could potentially lose Mauro Icardi this summer so the decision to replace the Argentine with Lukaku could be an inspired one. The Manchester United number nine has endured a difficult season after guiding his country to third in last summer’s World Cup.
The 26-year-old only managed to score 14 goals in 41 appearances last season and has been vocal about his desire to move to Italy. It was expected that Juventus would be his final destination, but Conte’s imminent arrival at the San Siro could offer a second way out of Old Trafford for the luckless striker.
This will be the second time that Conte has attempted to sign the big Belgium striker, after losing out on him during the 2017 transfer window and instead having to settle for Alvaro Morata. The fact that Ole Gunnar Solkjaer favours Marcus Rashford over Lukaku could mean that the transfer may happen.
Moses meanwhile would welcome a reunion with Conte; after the duo shared an excellent title-winning season with Chelsea in 2017. Following the Italian’s dismissal, he was loaned to Turkish giants Fenerbahce, where he made 12 appearances and scored twice.
Chelsea will be happy to part ways with the Nigerian international should their valuation on the right winger be met.
It will be interesting to see whether the signing of the pair can close the gap on the dominant Juventus. But BetXChange do make Inter the 0.40 favourites to close out the Serie A season with a comfortable win over Empoli.
