Just four days after Tottenham Hotspur were defeated in the Champions League final by Liverpool, they could be set to lose one of their stars of the season as Christian Eriksen has admitted that his future could lie away from North London.

In what is to be terrible news for the club, the Danish midfielder admitted that he is “hoping to try something new.”

The 27-year-old scored eight goals in the Premier League last season and was among the leaders in the assist charts. However, there will be a host of clubs willing to pay Spurs for the player’s services.

The fee that could be required to prize the asset away from North London may not be as high as some would hope, as the Dane only has one year remaining on his current deal, and he has made it clear that he doesn’t think that he will sign any contract extension put in front of him.

As for where he ends up; there is a clear club that he has his sights on. He said: “Real Madrid is a step up but it would require Madrid to call Tottenham and say they want me.”

Any move for Eriksen would certainly have a detrimental effect on the hopes for Spurs next season. At present they are priced at 14.00 to win the Premier League next season with BetXChange. However, that would rise instantly if the playmaker leaves the club.
