Every couple of years a wonder kid emerges on the scene. This player is then chased by all the biggest clubs in Europe as they battle to get his signature.

Portugal is a country that has had more than its share of such players. Some (Cristiano Ronaldo) work out and become global stars, while others (Nani) don’t quite reach that level.

The latest Portuguese wonder kid on the block is Joao Felix, with the 19-year-old attracting attention from all the biggest clubs in England and Spain.

Up until a few days ago, it looked like the two Manchester clubs had the inside track to take Felix off of Benfica’s hands, but now it seems more likely that Madrid will be the destination for a player who scored 15 goals in 26 Primeira Lige games this term.

Juventus are also in the running, a link with Ronaldo would be frightening, but it is Atletico Madrid who are looking to meet the £105 million clause in the player’s contract. This would be the centerpiece deal for boss Diego Simeone as he looks to revamp his squad over the summer.

Atletico are currently third favourites to win La Lige next season with odds of 15.25 on BetXChange.
