Manchester United are set for a summer clear out, with many of their highest earners vulnerable to being sold. However, one player that has divided opinion throughout his time at Old Trafford could be set to return to his old club.

Few can argue with the ability of Paul Pogba, but his time at the Red Devils has been plagued with as many lows as highs. United could be about to cash in on their prized asset if rumours are to be believed; with Juventus waiting in the wings to welcome the French World Cup winner back to Turin with open arms.

It is thought that the Italian champions have made contact with Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola over the summer move, and the player’s representative has passed that message to the club.

Pogba initially moved to Juventus in 2012 on a free transfer from United having failed to hold down a first team place under Sir Alex Ferguson. However, after four triumphant seasons in Italy, he moved back to United for a then world-record fee of £89 million.

The midfielder has made 135 appearances for the club and scored 31 goals. Tensions between Pogba and Jose Mourinho threatened to derail his season, as the Frenchman was stripped of the vice-captaincy in November. The 26-year-old enjoyed a resurgence under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but was unable to guide United to a top-four finish.

If Pogba was to depart Old Trafford then their chances of winning the Premier League title would surely be lowered. At present they are valued at 20.00 outsiders with BetXChange to win the top honour.
