Tournament Preview

The US summer swing is in full flow on the PGA Tour with a plethora of big names descending on North Carolina for the 2019 Wyndham Championship. World number one and last week’s St Jude Invitational champion Brooks Koepka is absent from the field at the Sedgefield Country Club, which will be a source of encouragement for many of the players in the field this week. With attention turning towards the Tour Championship next month, the race for ranking points is on – as well as a healthy prize pot of over 6 million dollars – there is plenty to play for this week in North Carolina.

Betting Preview

Outright Winner

The Wyndham Championship is the sixth oldest event on the PGA Tour and there are plenty of big names hoping to etch their names into the history books in 2019:-

Webb Simpson – 10.00

World number 13 and two time major winner Webb Simpson continues to churn out the results on the PGA Tour and he’ll be pushing to go one better after finishing second at the St Jude last week.

Hideki Matsuyama – 18.00

Hideki Matsuyama has battled with inconsistencies in recent months but his game is still there for all to see and if he plays anywhere near his best, he will be a real contender here in North Carolina.

Jordan Spieth- 18.00

Back to back top 20 finishes for Jordan Spieth look to have given the three time major winner a new lease of life on the PGA Tour and how he will be keen to pick up a tournament win here.

Brandt Snedeker – 25.00

Defending champion Brandt Snedeker will be hoping to emulate his showing at the Sedgefield course last year, where he became the 10th player ever to shoot 59 on the PGA Tour.

Alex Noren – 50.00

Back to back top 15 finishes have seen Alex Noren climb the rankings in recent weeks and the Swede will arrive in North Carolina full of confidence following a good finish at the St Jude last week.

1st Round Leader

Producing the goods over 72 holes is often the most difficult thing for any golfer to do therefore here are our first round leader picks:-

Billy Horschel – 33.00

Billy Horschel is one of the most consistent performers on the PGA Tour and he looked in excellent form when finishing 9th at the St Jude Invitational last time out.

Chez Reavie- 50.00

Chez Reavie has enjoyed a remarkable season on the PGA Tour and currently sits at number 14 in the money list and how he would love to get off to a good start in North Carolina this week.

Matthew Wolff – 55.00

Few prospects on the PGA Tour as exciting as Matthew Wolff – with his unorthodox swing – he is quickly making a name for himself and he looks a good fit for the Sedgefield course.

Top Ten Finish

With so many quality players assembled here in North Carolina, getting into the winning enclosure could be tough but there are plenty of candidates to finish in the top 10 come Sunday:-

Cameron Smith – 3.50

Australian Cameron Smith has enjoyed a purple patch of late on both the PGA and European Tours and with back to back top 20 finishes in the bank, he could go well here.

Joaquin Niemann- 4.50

Chilean Joaquin Niemann looks to be finding his feet somewhat on the PGA Tour but his top 10 finish at the John Deere Classic last month suggests he is starting to fulfil his boundless potential.

Dylan Frittelli – 5.50

South African Dylan Frittelli made it into the winners enclosure at the John Deere Classic in July and backed it up with a decent showing at the Open so should be full of confidence this week.
