One of the biggest grudge matches in the history of the UFC will finally reach its gripping conclusion at UFC 240. The event comes live from Edmonton, Alberta and while the card itself doesn’t have the star power that would grip the average fan; there is undoubted star quality in the top two match-ups on the card. As well as the bout between Max Holloway and Frankie Edgar; fans’ will also be looking forward to seeing Cris Cyborg back in the octagon as she comes up against Felicia Spencer.

However, there is no doubting the main event, but who should punters with BetXChange be placing their wagers on?

Max Holloway vs Frankie Edgar Preview

Both of these fighters have been on a collision course throughout their UFC careers, and the fans will finally get their wishes when they see these two superstars come up against each other. Holloway will go into the bout at the overwhelming 0.21 favourite with BetXChange. He holds a fine record over his last 14 bouts; only losing once. This defeat came in his last appearance in the octagon against Dustin Poirier. The unanimous decision defeat at UFC 236 was the first time he has lost in 13 bouts; which is a ridiculously good record. Over this time, he defeated Jose Aldo twice, Brian Ortega and Anthony Pettis.

Holloway has only been defeated on four occasions, and out of these, he has only been stopped once. This defeat came by way of submission against Dustin Poirier back in 2012 at UFC 143.

While Holloway has been near imperious over his last 14 bouts; the same can’t be said about Frankie Edgar. His inconsistency had effectively knocked him out of contention before the war of words worsened between himself and Holloway.  Over Edgar’s last 14 bouts he has lost on five occasions; with these defeats coming against Brian Ortega, Jose Aldo twice, and two defeats against Benson Henderson. This record includes three losses on the bounce. His most recent defeat came against Ortega as he was knocked out for the first time in his career. Edgar managed to bounce back from this set back in his next outing; in what was simply a must-win. He managed to get past Cub Swanson by the skin of his teeth, and it is extremely difficult to see him posing too many problems for Holloway.

Tip

There is an incredibly large inch difference between the fighters with Holloway standing at 5 ft 11 in and Edgar at 5 ft 6 in. However, with Holloway’s strengths in kicking and long punches combined with his lanky frame; that is going to feel an awful lot bigger once they are in the octagon.

Edgar is going to need to do some damage to Holloway to seriously stand a chance. However, he will need to do this while overcoming even more damage against him. One avenue that Edgar may look to take is takedowns, but that seems increasingly unlikely as Holloway’s defence is incredibly strong, and that was on full display against Ortega. However, Edgar may be too durable for Holloway to stop, but unless Holloway has a serious issue with the weight drop, then it looks almost inconceivable that Edgar will beat him.

Tip: Holloway to win at 0.21 with BetXChange.
