Stage 7 at La Vuelta will be extremely hard for the riders. And it could have a significant impact on all the other classifications. That’s why we wanted to bring it closer and share a few words about it.

Here are the cycling odds for all those looking for some, including La Vuelta odds.

What happened in Stage 6?

Jay Vine won Stage 6, having executed a perfect solo attack in the last 20 kilometers, and pulling away from his group at the time. The Aussie was stubborn, and he was determined to rebuff all the rivals’ attempts to get him.

Vine had a huge edge in this stage, because he lives in Andorra, and the stage itself stretched from Olot to Pal, which is located in you get it, Andorra.

Torstein Traeen came second, and that was enough for him to take over the top spot in the general classification and jump from 26th place. No.1 contender for the win here, Jonas Vingegaard, was the one who held the red shirt, but in the end, he finished more than two and a half minutes behind Traeen.

Stage 7 Summary

  • Start time: 12:15 CEST
  • Finish time: 17:28 CEST

Stage 7 Preview

This is going to be hell for all the riders, and whoever manages to keep today’s tempo and stays undamaged for the following few stages after that should make quite a difference compared to all the other rivals. After all, we are in the Pyrenees, and regardless of the terrain and the circumstances, challenges are always much tougher here than in some other places. And this will be the first summit finish at this year’s La Vuelta.

What’s on the menu today? First of all, there are two Cat 1 ascents and two Cat 2 ascents, which means that endurance is being tested here. However, apart from endurance, the riders will also have to demonstrate their mental strength, which is why we stated that today’s stage could have a significant impact on the remainder of the race.

Tempo will be mixed because after hard ascents come long downhill rides, and that’s when many have to adjust to the sudden change and use it to maximize their rest.

Stage 7 Contenders

After losing his pace yesterday, Jonas Vingengaard needs to bounce back, and this is a perfect chance for him. The two-time Tour de France winner has to show his worth here and break the rivals with his tempo; otherwise, he just might complicate his position.

We also expect to see Giulio Ciccone, who is one of the guys who should shine in stages like this one. Lidl-Trek has no better riders for these types of stages, and the Italian might be the one who gets the win.

Needless to say, Joao Almeida and Juan Ayuso have to be counted in. After all, the UAE duo is among the top favorites to win La Vuelta, and we need to see some statement from their side.

Stage 7 Predictions

Now, we did a lot of research here, and for the moment, Ciccone is our bet here. Why? First of all, he is arguably the best climber here, and the top favorite to win that part of the La Vuelta classification. Secondly, he is Lidl-Trek’s biggest star, and the team will work for him 100%, plus their entire unit is formed for situations like these. Additionally, Ciccone likes summit finish stages. Therefore, the Italian has solid prospects of getting his first stage win this year.
