Known as “The Worlds Richest Raceday” the Dubai World Cup takes place on the 25th March 2017 Meydan Racecourse in Dubai.

How it works

Dubai Racing Club received 1,549 nominations for 779 horses from 22 countries for the 2017 Dubai World Cup day. The first supplementary stage for all races on Dubai World Cup day closed on Wednesday, 8 February 2017. The second supplement closed on Monday, 6 March 2017 and declarations and the final, third supplementary stage for Dubai World Cup day 2017 takes place on Monday, 20 March 2017.

2. Ribchester

Ribchester won the Jersey Stakes and Prix Jacques Le Marois this season before finishing second giving weight to Minding in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot in October. “He’s had a good season and has been playing with the big boys. He has a high cruising speed, which is the sign of a talented horse.” Says owner Richard Fahey.

4. Mind your biscuits

The 4-year-old winner of four races from 14 starts has finished in the top three in 12 of his races, including an adjudged runner-up effort in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Sprint on November 5.
Mind Your Biscuits earned his lone Grade 1 when annexing the Malibu Stakes over 1400m at Santa Anita two efforts back on December 26. A strong horse whose trainer has high expectations for at this year’s Dubai Cup.

5. Thunder Snow

The tall, muscular, graceful bay colt from the first Northern Hemisphere crop of Helmet (Exceed And Excel) had little trouble dispatching his eight rivals in the lead up to the Dubai Cup. A strong contender this year for sure.
