There is no surprise to see Iga Swiatek competing in the French Open final this year, as the Pole was the clear favourite to win the tournament before a ball was hit at Roland Garros. The two-time winner of the clay court Grand Slam has cruised through to the final without dropping a set, and there is very little evidence to suggest that her dominant streak will come to an end this weekend.
Swiatek was impressive once again in her semi-final showdown against Beatriz Haddad Maia on Thursday, smashing down 77 winners, and winning 72% of the points on her first serve.
Few could have predicted that Muchova would be competing in a first Grand Slam final this year, as the Czech player has come back from a number of injury issues to deliver a memorable run.
She showcased all her character in Thursday’s semi-final against Aryna Sabalenka, coming back from match point to win the next five games against the Australian Open champion. However, the Czech will need to maintain that ridiculously high standard against the queen on the clay court this weekend.
Prediction
This should be an exciting final at Roland Garros on Saturday, but it is extremely challenging to overlook the dominance enjoyed on the clay surface by Swiatek. Therefore, we expect her to claim a third French Open title in straight sets.

The final in the men’s draw of the French Open is set, and is promises to be a fascinating showdown between Casper Ruud and Novak Djokovic. The latter will be looking for a third Grand Slam success at Roland Garros, while Ruud will be looking to go one better after losing in last year’s final against Rafael Nadal.
Djokovic has grown into the competition this year, producing a better showing every time that he has taken to the court. For two hours, we were set for a thrilling semi-final between the Serb and Carlos Alcaraz on Friday. However, injury to the Spaniard allowed Djokovic to cruise through in four sets.
Ruud has been our pick to win the tournament since the opening day, and he has produced dominant displays in each of the previous two rounds. The Norwegian was excellent in the quarterfinals, as he eased through in four sets. However, his best performance at Roland Garros came in the last four, as he breezed through in straight sets against Alexander Zverev.
Prediction
Djokovic has won each of the four previous encounters between the players, which includes wins in each of the last two on the clay. However, I’m happy to side with Ruud finally landing a Grand Slam tournament this weekend, as he has been knocking on the door for a while.
