Conway Farms GC, Lake Forest, Illinois will be home to the BMW Championship, as part of this year’s US PGA Tour, running from 12-17 September 2017. Players have until 5 p.m. on the Friday 8 September to officially commit to playing. The field is then released and published by the PGA Tour on the same day.
The BMW Championship is a professional golf tournament which is the third of four FedEx Cup playoff events on the PGA Tour schedule.
Last year’s winner was Dustin Johnson with a score of 265 and 23 under par. The purse for 2016 was $8,5 million with Johnsons share amount to $1,53 million. Johnsons will certainly be gunning for another victory but can he do it again? Here’s a look at this year’s favourites:

1. Dustin Johnson
The World No.1 golfer has a natural affinity for the sport that makes him an enviable contender. He has an incredible length off the tee and his game has become much more precise. His form has been great this year and he comes off a recent win at The Northern Trust tournament in late August where he defeated Spieth in a play off. One of the favourites leading into the tournament.
2. Jordan Spieth
Propelling himself into the favourite position after an incredible British Open win, Spieth has shown a level-headedness that surpasses his age. His form this year has been fantastic and he was just pushed into second place at The Northern Trust tournament in late August, losing to Johnson in a playoff.
3. Jason Day
The runner-up in last year’s PGA Championship, Day started his US Open campaign with a poor performance which he admitted was just ‘bad golf’. Before this, he won the Mark McCormack Award for the player who spent the most weeks at No. 1 the previous year, so hopefully he will return to form in the BMW Championship.
4. Rickie Fowler
Although some have questioned his focus on golf – with fame somewhat overshadowing his performance – he seems to have his head back in the game following a talk from swing coach, Butch Harmon. He tied for fifth at Erin Hills – a course that had everything going for his game and managed to finish T5 with 5 under par in the most recent US PGA Championship – so hopefully he’ll harness his talents better in September.
5. Justin Thomas
New kid on the block, Justin Thomas blew his opponents out of the water with his sterling performance at Quail Hollow, winning his first US PGA Championship title at 8 under par. A close friend of Jordan Spieth and long time fan has now proven his worth as a championship golfer and will be in peak performance if he plays in the BMW Championship. Watch this space.
