The Betway Premiership has midweek action this week, with a full slate of matches on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Tuesday’s contests saw a big 3-1 for Sekhukhune United away at Kaizer Chiefs as they moved to the top of the log with 16 points from six games. There were also wins for Durban City over Siewelele and Chippa United over Orbit College.

Those results mean that Amazulu, which kicks off on Wednesday, will be placed in midtable, while Stellenbosch has work to do after an unfavorable run of results in their first five matches of this young season.

AmaZulu VS Stellenbosch Odds:

History

AmaZulu has been inconsistent so far this season. They have eight points from five matches played, with two wins, two draws, and two defeats. However, they do have five points from their last three games, with a win and two draws over that period.

Stellies have had a poor start to the season. This team has finished third for two seasons in a row and inside the top six for the last four campaigns. They will expect to start picking up results, but their league form has been spotty. They sit 12th on the log with three defeats, one win, and one draw from their first five games of the 2025-26 season.

Stellenbosch has had the upper hand in this match of late. In their last five meetings in all comps, Stellies have won three times, AmaZulu once, and there has been one draw. This includes the recent MTN8 Cup clash, in which Stellies won 3-2 on home soil to knock Usuthu out at the quarter-final stage.

AmaZulu

It has been three years since Usuthu took down Stellies, but they couldn’t have asked to play the Maroons at a better time. Stellies cannot be emotionally, mentally, or physically ready after their heartbreaking MTN8 Cup final defeat at the hands of Orlando Pirates at the weekend, and AmaZulu must take advantage of this.

It is one of those matches where an early goal for the home team would take all the jeopardy out of the contest. Stellies are going to come out flat, so Usuthu must pile on the pressure early and get an opener inside the first 25 minutes. If they do, then they walk this one by two or three goals.

Stellenbosch

Stellenbosch will need to find a way to work its way into this game. Again, they will come out flat, which is just natural after a cup final loss. If they can stay tight at the back in the first half, then they might be able to exploit some of the gaps in the AmaZulu defense that they have found regularly in their undefeated streak against their opponents.

Best Bets

Not winning in seven games against a single opponent would definitely be classed as a hoodoo. That hoodoo gets broken on Wednesday as Usuthu finally get one over a battered and bruised Stellenbosch team. At 2/1, this is an excellent price for bettors.
