Sunday’s match is the final of the 2025-26 Big Bash League. The 44th match of the season is a repeat of the Qualifier, with the Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers meeting for the second time this week.

These were the top two teams on the table at the end of the season, so it is fitting that they meet at Perth Stadium to fight for the trophy as the best T20 side in Australia this year.

Here is a look ahead at the contest.

Perth Scorchers VS Sydney Sixers Odds:

History

If this feels like a familiar end to the season, it is because this matchup of the Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers is a meeting of the two most successful Big Bash League franchises.

They have met in the final on five previous occasions. The most recent clash was at the end of the 2021-22 season, when the Scorchers moved to 3-2 against the Sixers in title deciders, winning by 79 runs in Melbourne.

The Scorchers then backed that win up the next season, beating the Brisbane Heat by five wickets to claim their most recent BBL crown. Their five titles make them the only team to have won this competition more times than the Sixers, who have emerged victorious three times.

The Sixers’ most recent win came at the end of the 202-21 campain. That was one of their two wins over the Scorchers in the final, as they emerged with a 27-run win. That result marked back-to-back BBL wins for the Sixers, as they had beaten the Melbourne Stars the previous season.

Perth Scorchers

The Scorchers have been resting up for a week after making light work of the Sixers in the Qualifier at this venue. A 30-ball 49 from Finn Allen was the highlight as they posted a score of 147 from their 20 overs. Mahli Beardman was the bowling star, taking three wickets for 20 runs as the Sixers’ chase never really got started.

Sydney Sixers

The Sixers were bowled out in 15 overs for just 99 runs in Perth. It was a horror batting show, aside from Steve Smith’s 37, but they put things right with an impressive win in the Challenger against the Hobart Hurricanes at the SCG.

Smith was again the star bat, with a 43-ball 65, driving the team to a shade under 200. Set 199 to win, Hobart never looked like getting close, setting up this mouthwatering final.

Best Bets

Perth has won both matches between the sides this season and will start as favorites in front of what is expected to be a sellout crowd of over 53,000 people.

Beardman is 7/1 to be the top bowler, and given his rise this year, he might be worth a bet. At the other end of the age spectrum, the timeless Mitchell Starc is the favorite at 77.20 to be the best bowler on the ground. If you think that the Sixers have any chance of winning, then he will have a big part to play.

This is not a wicket that has produced much in the way of run support this season. The Scorchers’ top score at home is just 153, so expect whoever wins to do so with a total that might be below 150.

I like Finn Allen to be the home team’s top bat at 14/5. This feels like an occasion where he will strike hard and fast for the Scorchers.
