Betting Preview
Outright Winner
The BMW Championship is one of the most lucrative events on the PGA Tour and plenty of big names will be hoping to etch their names into the history books in 2020:-
Newly crowned world number 1 Dustin Johnson blitzed the field at the Northern Trust last weekend, and few would bet against him repeating the feat this weekend.
Big hitting Bryson DeChambeau didn’t produce his best golf last time out, but he has been in decent nick since the restart and and he will be looking to add to his solitary PGA Tour win this season.
With two tournament wins since the PGA Tour recommenced back in June, Justin Thomas seems to have adapted well to playing without fans and he is always a joy to watch.
Few golfers in the world are as consistent as Webb Simpson and he will be aiming for his first tournament win since the season restart here in Illinois.
Emerging American Daniel Berger produced some excellent golf to finish 3rd at the Northern Trust last weekend and he will be keen to kick on here at Olympia Fields.
1st Round Leader
Producing the goods over 72 holes is often the most difficult thing for any golfer to do therefore here are our first round leader picks:-
Spaniard Jon Rahm has been searching for his best levels since the tour restarted in June, but he is a classy performer and could start well here at Olympia Fields.
Previous BMW Championship winner Jason Day is starting to put some decent form together and he could get off to a flyer here in favourable conditions.
Two-time BMW Championship winner Tiger Woods showed glimpses of his best golf at the Northern Trust last week and when he’s hot, he’s very difficult to stop.
Top Ten Finish
With so many quality players assembled here in Illinois, getting into the winning enclosure could be tough but there are plenty of candidates to finish in the top 10 come Sunday:-
USPGA Championship winner Collin Morikawa will be eager to keep his progress going in an event that should be well suited to his game style.
Former Masters Champion Patrick Reed isn’t at the peak of his powers currently, but he should never be ruled out in any event he plays.
Paul Casey came agonisingly close to opening his major account at the USPGA Championship earlier this month and few would bet against him featuring on Sunday here at the BMW Championship.
