T-Mobile Arena will host the mega-fight between Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia this weekend. It will be a catchweight bout between the two American stars, and it promises to be one of the standout fights of 2023.
Both fighters have exchanged vows in the build up to the fight, with both vowing to claim a stoppage victory over their rival. But, which fighter will come out on top, and which will lose their perfect professional record?
Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia Odds
The BetXchange betting market for huge catchweight bout is already open, and Gervonta Davis is the pre-fight favorite. The WBA lightweight champion is currently a 7/10 chance to land victory, while Garcia is the considerable underdog at 22/10.
In the three-way betting market, Davis is still the favorite at 4/10, while Garcia is available at 2/1. Meanwhile, the draw is also a selection available at 2/1.
Davis Is The Clear Favorite
Gervonta Davis is the clear favorite in the betting for the event this weekend. The 28-year-old is a former Golden Gloves gold medallist, and has been a dominant fighter throughout his professional career. The American has excellent punching power, which is highlighted by the fact that he has a 93% KO rate.
Davis has been the WBA lightweight champion since claiming a 12th round stoppage success over Yuriorkis Gamboa in December 2019. Since that win, he has scored stoppage victories over Leo Santa Cruz, Mario Barrios, and most recently, Hector Garcia.
Throughout his career, he has only been taken the distance on two occasions, with the most recent of those coming against Isaac Cruz in December 2021. But, his recent exciting return to the ring solidifies his place as the favourite for this bout on Saturday.
Garcia Looking For Huge Performance
For a long time, we have talked about the potential of Ryan Garcia, and on Saturday evening, we will find out just how good The Flash really is. The 24-year-old has a perfect professional record, having won 19 of his 23 fights by stoppage.
According to The Ring Magazine, he is the sixth-best lightweight in the world. Garcia holds an esteemed amateur record, as he won 15 national championships and registered a record of 215-15.
He has excelled since turning professional, and quickly became an interim world champion in the lightweight classification in January 2021 with a TKO win against Luka Campbell in Texas. He fought on two occasions last year, beating Emmanuel Tagoe by unanimous decision in April, before scoring a stunning sixth-round stoppage success over Javier Fortuna in July. This is a considerable step up in opposition, but there is every reason to suggest that Garcia is ready for this huge test.
Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia Prediction
I think there’s a lot of value in the betting for this bout, as Davis comes into the bout with questions to answer. I’d expect a timid opening to the bout, but Garcia will likely win the majority with his fast hands and ability to capitalise on Davis’s ambition to land big punches. We don’t see this fight ending by stoppage, and we will be siding with a Garcia win by decision.
