Betting Preview
Outright Winner
With most players on the tour having endured an enforced break, it will be interesting to see where each player is at this weekend:
Fresh off the back of his mentioned USPGA triumph last time out, Justin Thomas should be full of confidence here and he will want to keep his form going ahead the US summer swing.
World number one Scottie Scheffler will be chomping at the bit to get going here and he will be tough to beat on favourable conditions in Texas this week.
Home favourite Jordan Spieth will be backed to the hilt here at the Colonial Course and should he find his A game from the off, he too could be difficult to stop.
Two-time major winner Collin Morikawa has a British Open title to defend in a few weeks’ time and he will want to find form here in Texas this week.
Young American Will Zalatoris has been banging on the door at this level and at majors in recent seasons and his second place finish at the USPGA Championship last weekend should give him encouragement.
1st Round Leader
Those who get off to a good start could take some catching here in Texas and there is sure to be plenty of big names in contention from the off here:
Norwegian Viktor Hovland isn’t perhaps in his best form currently but all it takes is one round to change that and he is an incredible ball striker.
Tony Finau has put in some superb performances this season and despite only having registered two tournament wins in his PGA Tour career, he is a ruthless competitor.
Top 10 Finish
With so many good players assembled here in Texas, getting into the winning enclosure could be tough but there are plenty of candidates to finish in the top 10 come Sunday:
South Korean Sungjae Im is a man in fine form, and he will be a candidate from the first ball struck in anger in Texas this weekend.
Chilean Mito Pereira did much of the running at the USPGA Championship last weekend, ultimately finishing 3rd and he will be looking to back that performance up here this week.
Englishman Ian Poulter always manages to be in amongst it at the biggest events on the PGA Tour and he should have a game made for the favourable going in Texas this weekend.
