Nice and Nantes meet in the Coupe de France finals at the famous Stade de France, the venue of this year’s UEFA Champions League finals. These two teams have reached this stage following extremely interesting challenges that were also, pretty tough.
BetXchange will deliver a preview for this event, along with the pick and the odds for the same.
Preview
Nice
Les Aiglons have been waiting for a trophy since 1997, once they won this same competition. It would be a massive success for the club and this generation of players, which is, by the way, pretty stacked up with quality.
Regarding the current form, Nica is in a solid position, winning three of the past four games. When looking at the efficiency of those games, the most recent three were with one goal only, while only one in the previous five saw both teams on the field scoring. Overall, a vast majority of their games ended with fewer than three goals.
The big problem for Christophe Galtier and his crew are matches on the road, as Nice didn’t win in six straight until the last weekend’s event in Bordeaux, against the sorry hosts, who are on their path to the second tier. The win before that was at Parc des Princes, where Nica eliminated PSG, beating Neymar and the boys, 0-1.
Nantes
The Canaries’ last title was in 2001, when they won the French Ligue title. Since then, they didn’t make any notable success and were a mediocre team in France. But Nantes is much more than that. This club won the national championship eight times and has a massive fanbase behind him.
The team’s current form is not shinny, but not bad either. In the recent ten games, Nantes won four times and had three losses and the same number of draws.
Nantes’ previous few events were with a high number of goals. The last three all ended up with four or more hits, and with both teams netting. The latest six were all with goals on both ends of the field. Therefore, this might be a clash between two teams with different play philosophies.
Head to Head Games
There were two direct meetings this season between Nice and Nantes. The first one was in Nantes, and the hosts got away with all three points, beating the Canaries, 0-2. Kasper Dolberg scored an opening goal in the 75th minute, and Amine Gouiri sealed the win five minutes later.
The game in Nice saw the hosts winning, 2-1. Dolberg netted from the penalty before Girotto leveled the score just before the halftime. Yet Thuram brought the win to the home side in the 56th minute.
Prediction
In our opinion, Nice is in a better position, and they have a better team than the Canaries, who couldn’t beat them on two occasions this year. Plus, in our humble opinion, Gaultier is a better head coach than Antoine Kombouare, and that will be an additional factor in this event be sure about that. Just to remind everyone that he won the title with Lilles last season. Therefore our pick here would be Nice to win, or if you want to play it safer, Nice to win the trophy. Our choice here is a bit riskier, but that is why the profits are exquisite.
