The 2025-26 SVNS World Series resumed last weekend after an almost two-month break with a thrilling event at the National Stadium in Singapore. Round 4 of the nine-round series roars into Australia this weekend, with Perth in Western Australia set to host the traveling festival.
It should be a thrilling weekend, with the slimmed-down tournament featuring eight men’s (down from 12 last year) and eight women’s teams playing for the cup.
The host nation will look to bounce back after a fifth-place finish in Singapore, where series leaders Fiji won. The Pacific Islanders have finished in the top three in all three events this season, and they will be looking to continue that trend here.
The Australian women are faring better than the men and are just two points behind New Zealand at the top of that log. It is a two-horse race, with the Black Ferns and Australia having traded first and second place at each of the events to date. With New Zealand winning in Singapore, does that mean that the host nation will take the spoils this weekend?
Perth SVNS Winner Odds From BetXchange:
Fiji start as favorites, and while they won in Singapore, they certainly did so the hard way.
They went behind in their last three games of the event: the final pool game against South Africa, the semi against New Zealand, and the final against France. They were able to rally to beat New Zealand 21-14 and France 21/12 in the final, but the Pacific Islanders will be hoping for a smoother ride as they look to go back-to-back on the tour.
They are also on the harder side of the draw, with a pool that features South Africa, Argentina, and Spain.
The other side of the draw sees New Zealand as the favorites at 9/5 to win Pool B. They are drawn alongside France, Australia, and Great Britain.
New Zealand has been the most consistent team behind Fiji on tour, picking up a win in the season opener in Dubai and finishing third in Singapore. Their fifth-place result in Cape Town is the one lone blemish on their record.
This could be a wide-open event, with Australia, South Africa, and Argentina all having been losing finalists on the circuit this year. Of those three sides, the French have been the most consistent, reaching the semi-finals in all three tournaments to date.
South Africa head coach Philip Snyman has been positive about the Blitzbok’s chances in Perth. With a solid week of preparation in the books, this is a squad that is ready to improve on a fourth-place finish in Singapore.
Wing Renaldo Young has been added to the squad and is in line to be the third new cap of this tour when he plays this weekend. The Blitzboks have been working on freshening up after a physical weekend in Southeast Asia, looking to clean up the mistakes that cost them a shot at the final.
Sevens betting is always tough because the short games can throw up shocks. South Africa’s pattern in this series has been one average event followed by a good one, so the ‘Boks at 9/2 aren’t a bad bet to win in Perth.
