Once again, Liverpool and Chelsea meet in one final, only this time it is the most prominent Cup in the world, the English FA. The two teams played in the EFL Cup earlier this year, and Liverpool won, but this will for sure be a completely different situation from that one. Liverpool is under great pressure because they lost the pace with City in the title race, and they have the UEFA Champions League finals coming up. Chelsea, too is under stress due to the fact that they might lose the second finals this year and stay without any trophies.

Liverpool VS Chelsea Preview

The Reds met with Aston Villa on Tuesday night, winning that one 1-2, and partially recovering from a shock that struck them at Anfield on Saturday once playing 1-1 against Tottenham. A victory at Villa Park was another proof of Liverpool’s superiority on the road.

It was the sixth time in the past seven road trips for the Reds to triumph, and besides that, they had one draw, which was against Manchester City 2-2. Apparently, they feel more comfortable on the road than at home. The reason for that is the fact that any rivals that come to Anfield defended with all 10 players.

The efficiency of those games is pretty high, and six of the past seven road contests Liverpool played were with over 2.5 goals. The same goes for both teams scoring, meaning that their defense did slow down a little bit, but the offense hasn’t. Salah, Mane, Jota, Diaz, and the boys are doing their job very well.

Chelsea tries to win the trophy and saves the season. The Blues didn’t play well over the past few weeks, which gave the opportunity to Tottenham and Arsenal to cut the gap between them and Chelsea, putting Tuchel’s unit in a dangerous position when it comes to the top four finish. The Blues still hold the destiny in their hands, but this was simply unnecessary, having in mind that they looked miles ahead of the two London rivals some month ago.

After two winless games away from Stamford, Chelsea was back on track this Wednesday, beating Leeds at Elland 0-3. They, too played much better on the road than at home and even had a nine-win streak recently.

What they do once visiting the rivals is lay back and wait for counter-attacks, using very pacey forwards and one of the best transition games in Europe.

Liverpool VS Chelsea Head to Head Games

The two clubs met in the EFL Finals, and Liverpool won the trophy, beating the Blues after the penalties. We didn’t say any goals during the regular 90 minutes.

The two English Premier League contests this season both concluded without winners. The opening one was at Anfield, 1-1, and the second at Stamford, just after the New Year, and that one finished 2-2, despite the Reds having a 0-2 lead early one.

Liverpool VS Chelsea Prediction

The stakes are high here, and that’s why we think that neither Klopp nor Tuchel wants to risk anything. Our final pick for this clash would be under 2.5 goals, as we predict a very conservative approach, especially from Chelsea’s manager, who is known for his defensive-minded philosophy.

Pick: Under 2.5 goals 13/10 at BetXchange
