The PGA Tour continues to be hot. Scottie Scheffler produced a stunning Round 3 last week at Quail Hollow to claim his first PGA Championship title. That trophy will go alongside his two Green Jackets, and the World Number 1 joins Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus as the only golfers to win at least three majors and 15 PGA Tour titles before turning 29.

Scheffler looks to add his 16th PGA Tour crown this weekend at the 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge. The purse for this event is $9.5 million, and the winner will receive a cool $1.78 million.

The 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge will be held from May 22 to 25 at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, TX. Established in 1946, this event has previously been sponsored by brands such as Bank of America and MasterCard.

Event Information

Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth opened in 1936. The Charles Schwab Challenge, which began as the Colonial National Invitational in 1946, is the longest-running non-major event on the PGA Tour to always be held at the same venue.

Colonial Country Club is a 7,209-yard, par-70 course designed by John Bredemus and Perry Maxwell. The tournament record score was set in 2010 when Zach Johnson went -21 for the event.

2025 Charles Schwab Challenge Odds

2025 Charles Schwab Challenge Leading Contenders

One hundred thirty-five players will tee off at this PGA Tour Invitational, but all eyes will be on one man. The odds above show that Scheffler is the clear favorite, mainly because the three-time major winner is one of only two World Golf Ranking top 10 players in the field.

Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, and Collin Morikawa are just some of the big names set to miss the Fort Worth event. The next highest ranked golfer is Hideki Matsuyama (8), with Maverick McNealy (11) and Tommy Fleetwood (14) the only other top 15 players in attendance.

Davis Riley, at 40/1, is worth a look. He is the defending champion, so he obviously enjoys the course. With so many big names missing, his price for a top 10 or top 20 finish looks worth a punt.

Anyone looking to card a low score will have to be on their game for the three-hole stretch of 3, 4, and 5. This section of Colonial was dubbed the “Horrible Horseshoe” by Texas native and golf writer Han Jenkins. It played to that last year, with the par-4 5th hole scoring average of 4.342. This was good for the 18th toughest hole on the entire tour.

2025 Charles Schwab Challenge Open Prediction

Longshot winners have been a theme at this event. In 2024, Riley joined Emiliano Grillo (’23) and Jason Kokrak (’21) as players who have already defied the odds to win this decade. If you are willing to look past Sceffler, the betting opens up after the top few players.

One player due for a comeback in form is Ashkay Bhatia. At one point, it looked like his 2025 was going to be huge, but he has fallen off with no top 40 finishes in his last six starts. That puts him at 90/1 here, a massive price for someone on it through February and March.

Pick: Batia in the top 10 at 29/5
