Champions League matchday 3 kicks off on Tuesday. We are here to provide a brief preview of the entire round, including various analyses and some game previews.
Before we start, we have to say that the teams are already deep in the competitive mode, and the room for error is beginning to narrow. Travels are slowly starting to take a toll, and the rotation here needs to be involved heavily, because as we said, the error margin is thin now.
Check out the UCL odds here.
Outright Moves
Apart from Liverpool falling down in the power rankings, there weren’t any major movements when it comes to top contenders for winning the UCL title.
What is a noticeable climb would be Arsenal’s jump to the third position before PSG and Barcelona. Bayern is present near the top as usual, Real Madrid too, and only then comes Liverpool.
The slightly forgotten Manchester City is behind, and this closes the elite echelon of favorites.

Bayer Leverkusen vs. PSG
Bayer didn’t lose in the past 8 events of the season, but they also won rarely, with 4 wins and 4 ties. Two of the latter were in the Champions League, and may we say that Leverkusen doesn’t look too strong.
PSG is going it slow. They aren’t as confident as many would expect, but we all know Enroque and his form-targeting. We only see a glimpse of their power here and there, like against Barca on the road.
Overall, in this event, there shouldn’t be too many problems for the European champs. Leverkusen is good, but PSG is at least one level above, and despite their home-field edge, Bayer can’t avoid a loss in this clash.
Frankfurt vs. Liverpool
Eintracht plays extremely interesting and exciting football. They always want to score goals and be competitive, but lately this team has begun to struggle. Only one win, one tie and three losses in the last 5 games prove that. In all of those matches, Frankfurt conceded at least two goals, but in just one, three or more. So the defense is problematic.
Liverpool is in a hole, having four defeats in a row and showing plenty of weakness. They lost in the UCL in Istanbul to Galtasaray, 1-0, and after that suffered two big hits against the EPL title rivals, Chelsea and Man Utd. Therefore, the heat is starting to burn Arne Slot, who has never felt this kind of pressure since landing at Anfield.
Both teams here play very fast and efficient football, emphasizing attack. Due to that, our pick here is for the game to see at least 4 goals.
Real Madrid vs. Juventus
Two former European champions meet in Madrid, in what is possibly the game with the biggest reputation in the entire round. Though that’s on the paper, but on the field, now that’s a different thing.
Real Madrid opened the UCL league well with two wins. They have four wins in the past 5 rounds. On the other hand, they have all 5 wins at home this year, and that’s something Juve’s fans know and what frightens them.
They also know that their Old Lady struggles to gain confidence on the road, having not won in the past three away matches. The most recent was against Como, where they lost 2-0.
This tells us that Real has a very nice chance to post a big win over a big name, which will look good in front of the fans and boost the Los Blancos’ morale. That’s why we take the hosts to win and cover a 1.5-goal spread.
