Oslo Diamond League Event Information

Oslo, Norway, is the sixth stop on the 2025 Diamond League tour. This is the second European event this season, following the Rome Diamond League stop on June 6.

The Bislett Games are part of a quick stretch of events, with the athletes moving on to Stockholm this weekend and then to Paris next Friday.

The appetizer was an afternoon of action on Wednesday, but the real action is coming on Thursday night. The main event sees local hero Karsten Warholm face off against Rai Benjamin and Alison dos Santos in the 300m hurdles, where we will begin our event preview.

300m Hurdles Winner Odds

This should be fun. These are the three fastest 400m hurdlers in the sport’s history, with Benjamin claiming the Olympic title over that distance in Paris last year.

It will be interesting to see the strategies at this shorter distance. This is the first time the three greats have competed against each other over the 300m barriers after it was introduced to the circuit as an official event earlier this year. They will then compete over the traditional 400m distance in Stockholm at the weekend.

Warholm and Benjamin are the two most likely to win in Oslo. Warholm has the all-time pedigree over Benjamin, holding the world record in the race’s 300m and 400m versions. He is also in excellent form, having lowered his world record at 300m to 33:05 at the Diamond League season opener in April in Xiamen, China.

The lean is Warholm. His way of attacking the hurdles from the sound of the gun might actually make him better over 300m than 400m. He is still going strong at that mark, without giving the fast finishing Benjamin an extra straight to run him down.

Add in the factor of what will be an electric home crowd for Warholm, and he will fly to the finish in a time that challenges his world record.

800m Winner Odds

This is another event where the world record will be seriously challenged. Three of the fastest six runners in the race’s history will compete here, with Djamel Sedjati of Algeria and Emmanuel Wanyonyi of Kenya joint favorites with BetXchange at 37/20.

The stadium record 1:42:04 set by David Rudisha of Kenya in 2010 will undoubtedly be under threat, with Sedjati, Wanyonyi, and Gabriel Tual (15/2) all having personal best times under the magic 1:42 mark.

Olympic champion Wanyonyi is my pick here. However, he must fly to avoid the always combative Desjati over the final stretch.

200m Winner Odds

Andre de Grasse is the favorite to win the men’s 200m, an event where fellow Canadian Aaron Brown could challenge him.

In a recent athletic event in Philadelphia, Brown (67/9 with BetXchange) defeated his more decorated countryman over 200m. He finished third, eight-tenths of a second faster than De Grasse.

Both must be at their best to hold off Joseph Fahnbulleh of Liberia, Reynier Mena of Cuba, and the American pair Kyree King and Vernon Norwood.

I like Fahnbullah to win here in a field without Leslie Tebogo and Courtney Lindsey, the two winners on the circuit so far in 2025.
