Paris Diamond League Event Information
Paris, France, is the eighth stop on the 2025 Diamond League tour. This is the fourth European event this season, following meets in Rome, Oslo, and Stockholm over the last two weeks.
The Meeting de Paris is the final event of a quick stretch of meets. The athletes will next compete in Eugene, Oregon, on July 5. The season concludes with another six European dates before the end of August.
The main event is in the unlikely form of the men’s javelin, where Germany’s Julian Weber and Neeraj Chopra of India will resume their rivalry. That is where our preview begins.
Men’s Javelin Winner Odds
This will mark the first time that Chopra has competed at the Paris Diamond League event since 2017, when he was a junior world champion. The 27-year-old has since won a pair of Olympic medals, including gold at the 2020 games in Tokyo.
Chopra is in fine form this year. At the Diamond League meet in Doha, he broke the magical 90m mark for the first time in his career. His throw of 90.23 had Chorpa topping the league board until the final round, when Weber launched the spear an incredible 91.06m.
This rivalry is only getting more intense as Weber and Chopra push each other to improve their distance. The event would be even more loaded if Pakistan’s 2024 Olympic gold medallist Arshad Nadeem were in the field. Also, look out for Anderson Peters of Grenada, who has a lifetime best of 93.07m.
I like Chopra to eke out this one at 21/20.
Women’s 200m Winner Odds
This race is the must-see track event of the Paris meet. American Anavia Battle is undefeated in this event in 2025, crossing the line first in races she has dominated and in close finishes.
She will be seriously tested here, with Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith and fellow American Deejah Stevens peaking at the right time for this contest.
Asher-Smith just ran a sub-11-second 100m at the Diamond League in Stockholm. Given that the longer sprint is historically her better distance, she is in with a shout here. As is Stvens, a sprinter still working on returning to peak form, but she recently went 22.18 over the 200m at the Stare Athletoics Sprint Series, her fastest time in almost four years.
The value is in Stevens or Asher-Smith, and I will give the lean to the Brit.
Men’s 400m Hurdles Winner Odds
I have added this one so you aren’t tempted to try to fade Rai Benjamin. This may be only the third race of the year for the American, but he is in stunning form right out of the gate.
After losing to Karsten Warholm (in world record time) in the 300m hurdles in Oslo, Benjamin dominated the 400m in Stockholm. He ran the tenth fastest time in history in the event, an astonishing feat that suggests he is already in mid-season form.
With no Warholm or Alison dos Santos in the field, there is zero competition for Benjamin. Step away from this one.
