The 2025 RBC Heritage event has the unenviable task of directly following one of the most dramatic and satisfying US Masters’ tournaments in years. The 2025 RBC Heritage has a purse of $20 million, with the winner pocketing $3.6 million of the fund. This means that, in terms of prize money, the RBC Heritage pays out the same as the US Masters.
The 2025 RBC Heritage will be held from April 17 to 20 at Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. This will be the 57th edition of the event, which was initially called the Heritage Golf Classic when it was won by the legendary Arnold Palmer in 1969. It is a PGA Tour Signature event.
Event Information
Harbor Town Golf Links frequently appears on “Best Courses” lists worldwide. It has hosted The Heritage for its entire existence, with the event being moved to mid-April directly after the Masters in 1983. The course was designed by famed golf course architect Pete Dye, with assistance from Jack Nicklaus.
Narbor Town Golf Links is set at a 7,099-yard, par-71 course.
RBC Heritage 2025 Odds
RBC Heritage 2025 odds to win with BetXchange:
- Scottie Scheffler – 9/2
- Collin Morikawa – 10/1
- Ludvig Aaberg – 16/1
- Patrick Cantlay – 18/1
- Xander Schauffele – 18/1
- Justin Thomas – 22/1
This is one of four invitational PGA Tour events, meaning the field is smaller than most tour competitions.
The big news is that fans will not get to see Rory McIlroy compete here after his thrilling Masters victory over Justin Rose on the first playoff hole at Augusta National.
McIlroy finally completed the career Grand Slam that he had been searching for at the eleventh attempt, but win or lose, the Northern Irish superstar would have been in no frame of mind to tee up here.
The LIV Tour crew is also missing, leaving Scottie Scheffler as clearly a favorite as you will ever find him. Scheffler had a strange Masters. He finished all alone in fourth place at 8-under-par, just three shots off the winning total. Even so, he never really felt in contention after playing the 36 holes of Round 2 and Round 3 just one shot under par.
RBC Heritage 2025 Leading Contenders
Scheffler is the defending champion at the RBC Heritage. He is not the only low-carding Masters player on show this weekend, so he won’t have it all his own way.
Ludvig Aaberg was within one shot of the lead on Sunday before a bogey at the 17th ruined his round. He triple-bogied the final hole at a point you could tell his head was no longer in the right place.
Watch out for Xander Schauffele. The double Major winner from 2024 slid into a tie for eighth at Augusta. This was Schauffele’s first top-10 finish of 2024 after he started the season with a debilitating rib issue.
Collin Morikawa will be in the mix. He is a double-major winner himself despite not having featured at the top end at Augusta this year. Patrick Cantlay offers superb value at 18/1. Cantlay has finished in the top 3 at this event for the last three years.
RBC Heritage 2025 Open Prediction
Strong iron play matters at an event with the second smallest greens on the PGA circuit. Morikawa leads the field in Strokes Gained: Approach this season, a stat that Scheffler was at the top of in his win here last year.
Pick: Patrick Cantlay – 18/1
I almost went with Morikawa. These are both golfers with long winless streaks on the tour despite often being in the mix. Cantlay’s form here jumps off the card. He has gone 3-3-2-MC-3-7-3. Surely he is due a win as a guy who excels on Pete Dye designs.
