BetXChange Summer Cup Outright Winner Odds:-
As one of the most prestigious events of the season, this year’s Gauteng Summer Cup is sure to be hotly contested once again.
Here are the key runners and riders for the Gauteng Summer Cup:
Soqrat – 3.30 – Australian 4 year old Soqrat heads the market for the 2019 Summer Cup following back to back wins this season. The win over the course and distance at Turffontein last month made the whole world stand up and take notice and trainer MF De Kock will fancy their chances here.
Barahin – 3.50 – Since debuting at Turffontein 18 months ago, Baharin has continued to grow in stature. The win at Turffontein earlier this month was a real indicator of the pedigree of this horse and it will be backed by home support in Johannesburg.
Queen Supreme – 6.00 – Yet another MF De Kock trained horse, Queen Supreme is the unkown quantity in the field having only been seen once – finishing 3rd over 7 furlongs at the same course in September and it could be an outside pick with the reliable Callan Murray on board.
Cascapedia – 12.00 – Irish 5 year old Cascapedia is another contender from MF De Kock’s yard and the impressive showing when finishing third to Barahin earlier this month demonstrated really strong credentials and it could be one to look out for if things don’t go to plan for the market leaders.
Atyaab – 14.00 – Australian import Atyaab was a 10/ winner at Turffontein earlier in the month and on the strength of that performance alone is a contender here. With 4 wins from 12 starts going into the race and this being only the competitive second run in nearly 200 days, anything could happen here.
Roy Had Enough – 14.00 – Roy Moodley owned Roy Had Enough isn’t the most proven performer in the field but has pushed market leader Soqrat all the way in their previous two starts. Turffontein hasn’t been the happiest stomping ground historically for the Australian 5 year old but it is another horse to keep a keen eye on.
Divine Odyssey – 16.00 – Home favourite Divine Odyssey will be the toast of Turffontein if they can produce the goods on Saturday. With the only win of a fledgling career coming over course and distance, there is cause for optimism but the field in the Summer Cup is significantly tougher than most of the previous trips undertaken.
