But, which side will get the upper hand in this clash between cricketing heavyweights?

England Update

It has already been a busy summer of cricket action for England, as international action has been shaped around The Hundred and the T20 Blast. The nation will come into the T20 series against Australia following a test series success against Sri Lanka, with the third test set to conclude on Tuesday.

In T20 internationals, England will be looking to bounce back following a semi-final exit at the World Cup at the beginning of the summer, with their journey ultimately ended following a 68-run defeat against India. But, the team’s performances throughout that event were below the standard required, as they nearly suffered an embarrassing exit in the group stage after defeats against Australia and South Africa.

Their chances in this series against Australia will also be negatively impacted following the injury sustained by Jos Buttler.

Australia Update

The Aussies will likely be strong favorites to win this T20 series against England, as they will be at near full strength for the three matches. Australia are currently warming up for their showdown against England with a three-match series against Scotland, landing a dominant seven-wicket success in the opening clash on Wednesday.

Like England, Australia will be looking to get back to form following an underwhelming display at the World Cup earlier in the summer. Their hopes of winning the tournament were ended in the Super Eight stage after falling to a 24-run defeat against India.

But, the form of Travis Head will be regarded as a positive ahead of this series against England, as he smashed 80 runs from just 25 balls in Australia’s recent win against Cardiff at The Grange Club.

Head To Head Record

This will be a rematch between the sides from their group stage clash at the World Cup, which was won by 36 runs by Australia in Bridgetown in June.

However, England’s over recent record against the Aussies in T20 internationals has largely been positive, winning three of the last five, with one ruled a non-result in October 2022. However, Australia landed victory against England in the latest T20 match between the sides on English soil in September 2020.

England vs Australia Prediction

This should be an exciting clash between two great cricketing rivals, with both looking to return to form following World Cup disappointment. However, given the issues that England currently have in regards to selection, we could see Australia claiming a series win on English soil to end the British summer.
