Liverpool and Real Madrid meet this Tuesday night, which should be a delight for fans worldwide. These two teams are coming into this one in completely different forms, with the Reds struggling to find their rhythm, while Real posts excellent results despite not being as confident or flamboyant.

The pressure is on the Reds, especially Arne Slot, whose managerial seat is very hot right now. Liverpool plays awful football, and the chemistry shown last season is gone, mainly because Slot decided to have a very expensive, yet inefficient transfer window.

Real has its problems in the locker room, but for the moment, that isn’t reflected on the pitch, where Los Blancos perform well enough to post wins, even though they aren’t as impressive as in the past. Still, this is Xabi Alonso, who wants to win, not impress anyone.

Battle of Philosophies

While on one side, Slot wants to implement gegenpress, Real prefers to wait for its chances through counterattacks, as they have Mbappe and Vinicius, who are extremely quick.

In recent times, Liverpool’s tactics haven’t been effective, largely due to a sluggish defense that often breaks under mild pressure, while on the other hand, they are not effective upfront at all. Kerkez, who came as one of the top signings, failed to adjust and is now a liability instead of a strength. Wirtz is undefined, and Isaak is soft.

Real’s problems in the locker room (Vini, Valverde, etc) are masked by their counterattacking abilities. Real won all but one game this year, which is an incredible achievement. But they still perform sluggishly and mildly, and simply aren’t as Real as everyone would expect. But who cares if you are winning?

Liverpool VS Real Madrid Preview

Liverpool

The Reds improved their morale a bit with a win against Aston Villa this weekend, 2-0. Before that contest, we saw the reigning English champions lose 6 of 7 matches, collapsing massively. The defense we mentioned is terrible, and the main reason for all the struggles. It easily bends, it’s deflated on the rival’s half, and above all, it’s unsure. It’s no wonder to hear that a clean sheet against Villa was their first after 6 weeks.

When it comes to goals and efficiency, Liverpool’s games are interesting. Only two in the previous 10 haven’t ended with over 2.5 goals, and both teams have scored in 7 games of this stretch. Though the last five matches at Anfield were all with 2 or 3 hits.

Real Madrid

Los Blancos’ record this season goes like this: 14 games, 13 wins, and one loss. Currently, Alonso’s team is riding a six-game winning streak, with four of those victories coming with a clean sheet. Impressive, because nobody would think that Real’s defense presents a big weapon due to all the stars upfront.

Yet the defense is equally fiery. In the 5 previous away events, Mbappe and the guys netted twice 4 times. And the counterattacks have been the main reason for such efficiency. As soon as the rivals open, Real is there to punish them.

Those talks about Vini’s problems and unsettling situation, or about Valverde’s dispute with Alonso, are all shut down due to good results. This is something we haven’t seen in the past at Bernabeu, with many off-field matters reflecting the performances.

Liverpool Vs Real Madrid Head to Head

Last year, Liverpool beat Real Madrid in the UCL, 2-0, at Anfield. However, before that, Los Blancos hadn’t lost in 8 straight matches, with them winning the Reds on seven occasions, including twice in the Champions League finals.

Liverpool VS Real Madrid Predictions

The focus here will be on goals, as we expect at least 4 in this contest. Both teams have fantastic forwards, and while Liverpool has significantly worse defense than Real, the Reds have a home-field advantage, which is worth double because Anfield has something of its own.

So expect an attacking-minded game with plenty of goals on both sides.
