Aussie Open finals are ahead of us, with Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic clashing for the title. A lot is at stake here. If Alcaraz wins, he’ll become the youngest Career Slam winner. On the other hand, if Djokovic wins, he not only becomes the oldest Grand Slam winner, but the only player in both competitions with 25 GS titles.

This will truly be a historic event, and we are glad to have the opportunity to witness it. And to throw some bets on it as well.

Alcaraz VS Djokovic Preview

Carlos Alcaraz had to dig incredibly deep in his semifinal clash with Alexander Zverev. It was 3–2 for the Spaniard after a marathon battle that lasted 5 hours and 26 minutes. The final scoreline read 6-4, 7-6 (5), 6-7 (3), 6-7 (4), 7-5, but the numbers only tell part of the story.

What began as a fairly comfortable outing for “Carlitos,” who raced into a two-sets-to-love lead, quickly turned into a test of sheer survival. Midway through the match, the Spaniard became visibly unwell, even throwing up, and later struggled with thigh cramps. Zverev’s indecisiveness proved to be the key reason for Carlos’ triumph. The German doesn’t have a champion’s DNA, that’s obvious, and instead of knocking out Alcaraz, he allowed him to claw his way back and win the event.

Up until this event, Alcaraz didn’t lose a single set, smashing his way through the brackets. Though we do have to say that apart from De Minaur and Tommy Paul, there weren’t any big-time names on his part of the draw.

Novak Djokovic, meanwhile, won’t arrive fresh either. His semifinal against Jannik Sinner stretched late into the Australian night, finishing close to 1:30 a.m. The Serb snapped a five-match losing streak against the Italian in another difficult five-set encounter. Djokovic was behind twice, but eventually prevailed 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 after more than four and a half hours of intense tennis at the Rod Laver Arena.

Djokovic had a tough time in the quarterfinals, where he won a match that he shouldn’t have. Musetti is up 2-0, but the Italian picked up an injury and had to forfeit the match and withdraw from the tournament. Up until that moment, Novak was perfect in Melbourne.

Regarding his win over Sinner, Djokovic showed that he can go toe-to-toe against the guy who is projected to endanger his record. What was the key here? Novak’s mentality and stubbornness, which, in fact, delivered numerous titles to the Serbian fella.

Alcaraz VS Djokovic Head to Head

The current score between these two guys is 5-4 in Novak’s favor. The last meeting was at the US Open a couple of months ago, when Carlos smashed Novak in straight sets.

Though when it comes to finals, the result is tied, with two wins apiece. Carlos was better at Wimbledon in 2023 and 2024, while Djokovic beat him in Cincinnati in 2023 and at the Olympics in Paris in 2024, when he completed the Career Golden Slam.

Alcaraz and Novak met last year here in Melbourne, when Novak eliminated the Spaniard in the quarterfinals.

Alcaraz VS Djokovic Predictions

These two guys know one another very well. Novak was Carlos’ favorite player growing up, and he sure knows everything Djokovic has to offer. Both players will feel fatigue in the finals, that’s for sure, as they played tough semis.

We can’t and won’t predict the final winner here, but go with Over 38.5 games, because recent matches and overall, clashes between Carlos and Novak are known to go to “extra time” as some say.
