Huge boxing action is set for Las Vegas this weekend, as the undisputed lightweight championship bout between Vasyl Lomachenko and Devin Haney takes place. Haney is the reigning WBA, IBF, WBC, WBO, and The Ring champion coming into the bout, but Lomachenko could be a popular choice in the betting as the former world champion and three-weight star looks to return to the ring with a bang.

Latest Odds

The BetXchange betting market for the bout has been open since the bout was announced. Haney is the clear favourite to land victory in both the two-way and three-way markets. The American is currently available at 1/3 in the two-way market, and is a 4/10 chance in the three-way market.

Meanwhile, Lomachenko could present a value play for the bout at 19/10 in the two-way betting and 21/10 in the three-way betting. Finally, the draw is available at a huge 15/1 in the three-way betting market.

Devin Haney

Devin Haney is certainly a deserving favourite to claim victory this weekend, as the 24-year-old remains one of the brightest stars in the sport. At present, he is ranked as the best active lightweight, according to TBRB, BoxRec and ESPN. Haney has been the reigning WBC title holder since 2019, and has been the undisputed champion in the weight class since 2022.

The American comes into the bout with a perfect professional record, having won all 29 of his previous bouts. In total, he has won 15 times by KO, with his remaining 14 wins coming by decision. Haney fought on two occasions last year, with both bouts coming against George Kambosos Jr.

The first fight between the two saw the American become the undisputed lightweight champion with a unanimous decision victory at Marvel Stadium. He subsequently also landed victory in the rematch between the pair in October 2022. But, this weekend will mark his return to action in the United States for the first time since beating Joseph Diaz in December 2021.

Vasyl Lomachenko

Vasyl Lomachenko will certainly present one of the toughest tests to date for Haney, as he comes up against one of the most talented southpaws that we have seen in modern history. The Ukrainian is a three-weight world champion, and also won golds at the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games, as well as a gold at the 2011 World Championships.

Lomachenko became the WBO featherweight champion in just his third professional bout, and later added the WBA and The Ring lightweight belts with success over Jorge Linares in May 2018. After successfully defending the title on three occasions, he lost the gold following a stunning loss against Teofimo Lopez in October 2020.

Following that defeat, he returned to action in June 2021 with a TKO win against Masayoshi Nakatani, before later beating Richard Commey and Jemaine Ortiz. This weekend will see Lomachenko once again step up to the top level of the sport, but his experience, coupled with his ability makes him a very serious contender.

Haney vs Lomachenko Prediction

Haney comes into this fight with the expectation on his shoulders, and while Lomachenko’s powers appears to have slipped in recent years, he remains a very dangerous opponent. His experience could be a key factor many are overlooking, and he could ask big questions of the younger champion this weekend. Therefore, a chance will be taken on the Ukrainian climbing back to the top of the mountain.

Pick: Vasyl Lomachenko at 19/10 with BetXchange.
