The RSM Classic might not mean much to the average golf fan, but to a host of players this weekend, the event changes the course of their 2026 season.

That is because this is the final event on the 2025 PGA calendar, with the pros then taking a break until the tour returns in March. That tour will feature different names, so this tournament offers players the chance to retain their tour card and remain at the very top level of the game.

Event Information

The RSM Classic has been a PGA Tour event since 2010, when it was known as the McGladrey Classic. It is played at Sea Island Golf Course on St. Simons Island, Georgia.

The event uses two courses: the Par-70, 7,005-yard Seaside Course and the Par-72, 7,160-yard Plantation Course.

It is an event where low scores are standard. Ludvig Aaberg won here in 2023 when he shot a 29-under 253 over four days.

The purse this year is set at $7 million.

2025 RSM Classic Leading Contenders

This is an event without a clear favorite, as many of the top-end guys, such as Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, have packed up for the season.

Betting favorites include Harris English and Michael Thorbjornsen, but watch out for Georgia native Brian Harman, who would love to cap the season with a win in his home state.

Backers of English will be hoping a break away from the game has done him good. His last tournament was the Ryder Cup in September, so he has had two months of nothing but practice rounds.

Harman is an interesting option because he always does well here. He has only missed the cut once since 2017, finishing fourth in 2017 and second in 2022. Playing this tournament every year, which is not common among PGA players, means he knows this pair of courses as well as anyone.

Thorbjornsen is a player running into form at the end of the year. He played the RSM Classic for the first time last year, finishing eighth. A third-place finish in the Baycurrent Classic in mid-October shows his current ability, and it was in a field that included the winner, Xander Schauffele.

Aaberg and 2024 RSM Classic champion Maverick McNealy are not in the field in 2025. That means Adam Svensson is the most recent winner of this event who is competing, but he is way down in the betting at 190/1 to win it for a second time.

The final two rounds will be played on the Seaside course. This is important because it is a links-style layout along the ocean, which will favor golfers who excel in those conditions.

One player to watch based on the short, awkward nature of the Seaside Course is Vincent Whaley. A player who always excels late in the season, Whaley has finished 13th and eighth here the last two years. At 45/1 in a wide-open field, I don’t hate the bet.

2025 RSM Classic Prediction

Go with the local to finally win what is essentially his home tournament. I also love Whaley for a top 5 finish at 17/2 if you aren’t into picking outright winners.

Pick: Brian Harman – 28/1
