Having first been played in the Italian capital back in 1930, the Italian Open has been one of the key clay-court events on the calendar for both men and women alike. With the French Open looming large at the end of the month, some of the biggest names in the game will be doing all they can to start building some momentum here.

The ATP tour is in full swing and the European clay court season looks to be as hotly contested as ever, Rafael Nadal is always the man to stop at this time of year and whilst his form on the dirt hasn’t been as prolific in 2021 as it has been in some previous years, his presence in the draw here in Rome is sure to make everybody stand up and take notice.

Rafael Nadal – 1.55 – Nine-time winner of the event Rafael Nadal is always the man to stop on clay and having bombed out in the last 8 in Madrid last week, he should be fit and firing again here in Rome this week.

Novak Djokovic – 3.05 – World number one Novak Djokovic has enjoyed plenty of success at this event too, winning it 5 times and it will be interesting to see what sort of clay court form he is in.

Stefanos Tsitsipas – 6.25  – Greek superstar Stefanos Tsitsipas has picked up some remarkable results in 2021 already and how he would love to pick up a tournament win here in Rome.

Dominic Thiem – 7.75 – Two-time French Open finalist Dominic Thiem is always a man to watch on clay but his form this season hasn’t been remarkable, and he will be looking to bounce back here.

Alexander Zverev – 9.75 – German Alexander Zverev roared home at the Madrid Open last weekend and with a game perfect for clay courts, he looks to be coming of age on the dirt this season.

Ashleigh Barty has been the woman to catch on the clay on the WTA Tour so far this season and the pending French Open will feel a very winnable event for every woman on the circuit. Clay court tennis is always fascinating for fans and players alike and with over $3.5 million in the prize pot, there is plenty to play for in Rome this week.

Simona Halep – 3.85  – Romanian Simona Halep is always a tough but to crack on clay and she will be looking to find form as she hopes to replicate her in 2019 French Open win later this month.

Ashleigh Barty– 4.25 – Until her defeat in the final in Madrid last week, Ashleigh Barty was in the midst of an-almost 2-year unbeaten run on clay and she should be full of confidence this week.
