Marc Marquez won the MotoGP title a long time ago, and right now the champ is on a well-deserved vacation. Other riders have two more races to go, this one in Portugal, and the final one, which is in Valencia in one week.

The main topic now is who will finish third in the general standings, as the top two spots are reserved for the Marquez brothers, who are far ahead of the competition. Alex is still active, and he won the sprint race today.

For all those who want to bet or at least look at MotoGP odds, they are available on this link.

Portuguese Grand Prix Facts

The circuit on which the race takes place is the Algarve International, a long 4.653 km or 2.891 miles. This is the 6th Grand Prix here, and so far we haven’t seen that much action as at the famous Estoril.

There have been three winners so far. After Fabio Quartararo’s opening two wins while riding Yamaha, Francesco Bagnaia won with Ducati before another Ducati won, only this time with Jorge Martin as the rider.

This is a very aggressive race, in terms of the track configuration, because it features several straight sections and a few very fast corners, followed by hard turns. Not only the riders, but also the tyres can have a massive impact on the race.

Bezzecchi’s Excellent Weekend, Alex Wins the Sprint

Marco Bezzecchi won the pole position, his 4th this year, sending a message to all that he wants that third place in the general classification. He’s after his 3rd win of the year, and if he manages to reach the top spot on the podium at the Portuguese GP, that bronze in the general standings will be his.

He couldn’t hold the top spot in the sprint race, allowing Pedro Acosta to overtake him, and Alex Marquez, who eventually squeezed out a win, leaving Acosta by 0.012 parts of a second behind. Alex was 5th in the grid, yet once again showed his talent.

When talking about qualifiers, behind Bezzecchi are Acosta, Quartararo, Bagnaia, and Marquez.

Situation Ahead of Portuguese GP

Marc is first with 545 points, Alex is second 413, while Bezzecchi holds the third spot with 291 points. Bagnaia has 286, and Acosta 260. So the battle between the latter three promises some excitement in the final two races.

Who comes on top? We’ll see that.

Other than that, the battle for the 6th spot will draw attention. Why? Because Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Di Giannantonio are just one point away.

The team’s standings see Ducati Lenovo Team at the top, with 831 points, making them the champions. BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP is second with 599 points, while Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team is third with 453 points.

Portuguese MotoGP Grad Prix Predictions

Bezzecchi showed us impressive form at the qualifiers, but we saw that he lost pace during the sprint race. Was that due to some tactics, or was his bike simply unable to keep up with Ducati and KTM? We aren’t so sure.

Meanwhile, Acosta was very, very aggressive, and there are solid chances to see him winning this one. He barely missed the win at the sprint race. Additionally, the final standings will depend on Alex’s start; if he manages to catapult after the green light and improve his placement, we might have an open race.

That’s why we have to pick Alex to finish among the top three places. The odds are not high, but for us, this is the safest pick here. Other than that, for all those willing to take some risk, take Alex to win.
