Durban’s Super Giants VS Sunrisers Eastern Cape Odds:
History
It is getting tight at the top of the log as we move past the halfway point of the 2026 SA20 season.
The abandonment of Wednesday’s match between the Joburg Super Kings and Paarl Royals gave each team another two points toward their season totals. That result means the Super Kings are now tied with Sunrisers Eastern Cape at the top of the log, with the Royals just two points further back.
The visitors on Thursday are in an excellent position. They have lost just once all season, have the best net run rate in the comp easily, and are the only team to pick up more than one run rate bonus point (3) in 2026.
The home side has some work todo. Durban’s Super Giants have played six of their ten regular-season matches, yet sit three points and one place outside of the playoffs. They have two no results on their record, a Super Over loss to the Joburg Super Kings, and just one win this season. If they are to make a playoff push, it needs to start tomorrow.
This is the first match of the season between the Super Giants and Sunrisers. The return match takes place on Sunday in Gqeberha.
Durban’s Super Giants
The Super Giants haven’t won since the first match of the comp when they beat MI Cape Town at Newlands. It has been a weird season, one that keeps threatening to kick into gear but never does.
The individual performances have been there. Jos Buttler’s unbeaten 97 from 52 balls last time out shows the talent in the squad. The fact that they still lost that match against the Pretoria Capitals, unable to chase down201, shows that the team can never fire in all phases in the same game.
Sunrisers Eastern Cape
The most dominant side historically in the SA20 competition is looking menacing again as we head towards the sharp end of the season.
The pace duo of Anrich Nortje and Adam Milne have been impressive with the ball, while the batting has had both big innings and quick strike thrashes when needed. Jonny Bairstow and Quinton de Kock have been especially impressive, while Matthew Breetzke and Jordan Hermann have been important in supporting roles.
Best Bets
Just looking at the history of this fixture should tell you to keep your money in your pockets if you were considering laying on the Super Giants. Sunriseers have won every matchup between the two sides to date, and it is hard to see that changing here.
Buttler is clearly in outstanding form and is worth a shot at 21/5 as top bat. He knows he has to play well for the Super Giants to have any chance, and he is a player who deals well with pressure.
