It is time for the third and final tournament of the 2025 FedEx Cup playoffs, as the top 30 players on the points list head to East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia, to face off in the 2025 Tour Championship.
The final of the FedEx Cup Playoffs ends a three-week stretch during which the top 70 players in the FedEx Cup points standings were whittled down to the cream of the crop. Events in Tennessee and Maryland are a preview for this event, which has a total prize pool of $40 million and will see the winner take $10 million.
Event Information
The Tour Championship has been an event on the PGA Tour since 1987. It has had numerous format changes and tweaks, with the 2025 edition being no different. This is the first year that the event abandoned the starting strokes format, which gave the best players on tour an advantage with a negative score. This has led to some extremely low scores and a lack of competition in recent seasons. Scottie Scheffler, for example, won the event last year at -30.
East Lake Golf Club plays as a 7,346-yard, par-72 course.
The Tour Championship Odds
The Tour Championship odds to win with BetXchange:
- Scottie Scheffler – 6/5
- Russell Henley – 19/4
- Tommy Fleetwood – 23/2
- Rory McIlroy – 29/2
- Justin Thomas – 18/1
We have already seen one round of play at the Tour Championship, which has moved the odds, with clubhouse leader Russell Henley at 19//4 after his stunning -9 par performance on Thursday.
BMW Championship Leading Contenders
Henley might have shot the lowest round on Thursday, but some big names are sitting right behind the American. No name in the sport is bigger than Sheffler, with the World No. 1 shooting a cracking seven under par. He once again showed his skills with his irons, winning back countless strokes between the tee and the green. He is established as a 6/5 favorite and figures to be a nightmare to beat.
One interesting name on the leaderboard is Collin Morikawa. I picked Morikawa to win event after event, with the former Major winner flattering to deceive over the last couple of seasons. One issue has been that Morikawa has played himself out of contention in many events before the weekend, but his six under here could be a sign that his form is turning around. He is joined on that score and tied for third by Justin Thomas, Tommy Fleetwood, Robert MacIntyre, and Patrick Cantlay.
Those who want to take a punt on the newest career Grand Slam club member can get Rory McIlroy at 29/2. Rory had an up and down first day, finishing T8 at four under par with three other players, including Ludvig Aaberg and Akshay Bhatia.
BMW Championship Prediction
The weather could be a factor in Atlanta. Play has been moved up, with tee times from 8:00 a.m. to 10:44 a.m. to get all the golfers on the course early. Scottie is the pick. He is in imperious form and is sitting alone in second, just playing consistent golf. His mere presence on the leaderboard has the other players quaking.
Pick: Scottie Scheffler – 6/5
