The Europa League gets underway for the 2022-23 season this week, as some of Europe’s biggest clubs look to land a European title. The betting markets for the competition are open with BetXchange for the coming season, and it promises to be a thrilling season in the European competition. But, which teams are in the running to land the top prize?

UEFA Europa League Information

The Europa League will get underway on Thursday 8th September 2022, and the final for the competition this year will take place at Puskas Arena in Budapest on 31st May 2023. Like other major European competitions, the matchdays will be played in much quicker succession this term due to the World Cup getting underway in November, which means that we will know the teams that will be competing in the knockout round before the first match gets underway in Qatar.

Teams that finish third in their respective Champions League groups will drop into the competition in the playoff round, while only teams that finish top of their Europa League group will immediately progress through to the knockout stage proper.

Leading Contenders

Arsenal

It has been a fine start to the new season for Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal side. The Gunners may have lost their unbeaten record at the start of the season last weekend after losing to Manchester United, but they remain the clear favourites in the BetXchange betting market to win the Europa League. The Gunners are currently a 4/1 chance, as they look to avenge the humbling 4-1 defeat that they suffered against Chelsea in the Europa League final a couple of years ago.

Manchester United

The top of the betting for the Europa League this season is dominated by Premier League sides. Manchester United are the second favourites to win the title. The Red Devils were beaten finalists two years ago, but have previously won the Europa League, as they beat Ajax in the final just under five years ago. United will be looking to land a major trophy this term in Erik ten Hag’s first full season in charge, and they are currently available at 11/2 with BetXchange.

AS Roma

Jose Mourinho is no stranger to success in Europe, and he landed the one European title that he hadn’t yet claimed last season with success in the Europa Conference League with AS Roma. The Italian giants will be looking to use that experience to their gain this season, as they look to win the Europa League for the very first time. Crucially, it could potentially be their most likely route back into the Champions League, such is the battle for a place in the top four in Serie A.

Europa League 2022-23 Prediction

It promises to be a very exciting season of competition in the Europa League this season, and the competition could go in one of a number of directions. It will be fascinating to see which teams drop into the Europa League from the Champions League in the second half of the season, but at present, we could see Manchester United being the team to beat, as the competition will hold added importance for Erik ten Hag.

Pick: Manchester United at 11/2 with BetXchange.
