Jung vs Ige Preview

This could be one of the closest fought UFC matches of the year, according to the BetXChange odds. Jung is currently the very narrow favourite at 0.88, while Ige has odds of 0.89. It is a fight that could go either way, and could depend on the condition that the two fighters turn up in on Saturday evening.

Jung is regarded as one of the fiercest competitors in the UFC, with experts often amazed by the number of punches that he can take in battles. He has a professional MMA record of 16-6, and will be looking to overcome the defeat that he suffered in his last bout in October last year. On that occasion, he was beaten by decision by Brian Ortega. That defeat ended a run of two straight victories, which both saw Jung awarded the Performance of the Night award.

The most recent of those wins came against Frankie Edgar in December 2019, as he beat Edgar by TKO in the opening round. He also beat Renato Moicano by the same method in the first round in June 2019. His approach to fights doesn’t come without its drawbacks, as he has also lost by KO and TKO in bouts against Yair Rodriguez and Jose Aldo in the past. However, that fight against Aldo came back in 2013. Since his return to the octagon in February 2017, he has won three and lost three.

Ige is a fighter that will be coming into this in the form of his life. He has lost just once in the past three years, with that defeat coming by decision against Calvin Kattar in July 2020. Since that fight, he has returned to the octagon with a stunning performance against Gavin Tucker.

He beat Tucker by KO punch in the first round of their March 2021 contest on the undercard of the Edwards vs Muhammad card. His other victories over the past three years have come against Danny Henry, Kevin Aguillar and Edson Barboza. All three of his defeats have come by decision, which will certainly be put to the test against knockout merchant Jung. However, he also showcases his own power frequently, as he has won four times by knockout, and has also picked up five submission victories.

Jung vs Ige Prediction

This fight is very close to call, and could go either way. However, we are learning towards Ige having the temperament to control the bout, before taking a decision victory to further his title claims.

Pick: Dan Ige at 0.89 with BetXChange.
