Western & Southern Open Bet Preview

Cincinnati – 15th – 21st August 2022

The US hard court swing is in full flow on both the ATP and WTA Tours and the Western & Southern Open is one of the biggest tournaments outside of the 4 Grand Slams. Both the men’s and women’s events in Cincinnati have attracted stellar fields in 2022 and with over $7 million dollars in the respective prize pots, there is plenty to play for this week.
Next up for the biggest names in the world is the US Open and the Western & Southern Open always provides ideal match practice, with the final Grand Slam of the year on the horizon.
Previous winners of the event include, Serena Williams and Lindsay Davenport on the women’s side and Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in the men’s game – testament to its standing on both the ATP and WTA Tours.

Outright Winner Odds

Iga Swiatek – 4/1 – World number one Iga Swiatek has seen a small dip in form over the past couple of months, but she remains as the player to beat on the WTA Tour, and she will be looking to get into her stride ahead of the US Open later this month.

Simona Halep – 10/1 – Two-time Grand Slam champion Simona Halep has bags of experience at this level, and she has always enjoyed hard court tennis. Picking up a big win in Toronto last week too should also give her a serious confidence boost coming into this week.

Naomi Osaka – 11/1 –  Former world number one Naomi Osaka is capable of beating anybody on her day and she returns to Cincinnati after a long break. Off court issues have troubled the American in recent seasons but hard courts are where she made her name and she can never be ruled out of any draw.

Coco Gauff– 12/1 – Reaching the French Open final could be seen as a seminal moment in teenager Coco Gauff’s career earlier this summer, with the young American on the cusp of hitting the big time. Conditions here in Cincinnati should suit her game too.

Top Pick – Iga Swiatek – 4/1

Outside Pick – Naomi Osaka – 11/1

Outright Winner Odds

Daniil Medvedev – 4/1 – Reigning US Open champion Daniil Medvedev has looked in supreme form, following his enforced Wimbledon hiatus and he will be desperate to keep putting ranking points on the board here, at a tournament he won back in 2019.

Rafael Nadal – 5/1 – Adding to his tally of 22 Grand Slams will be the ultimate goal for Rafael Nadal in America this summer and his preparations begin here. He last won in Cincinnati back in 2013 and how he’d love to put that right this week.

Carlos Alcaraz – 6/1 – Young Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz looks set to make an assault on the very top of the game and his performances on hard court in recent weeks, will give him some serious encouragement in an open looking draw here this week.

Nick Kyrgios – 6/1 – Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios seems to have finally found the level of consistency needed on the ATP Tour and his performances of late have been sublime. He can be unstoppable on his day and the speed of the courts here in Cincy should suit him.

Stefanos Tsitsipas – 18/1 – French Open finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas has long headed up the next generation of players on the ATP tour and he could be one to watch in a congested draw here. He is super talented across all surfaces, and he too is more than capable of beating anyone on his day.

Top Pick – Daniil Medvedev – 4/1

Outside Pick – Stefanos Tsitsipas – 18/1
