The PGA Tour moves on to Arizona this week for the 2026 WM Phoenix Open.

While this is an important tournament as the fourth event of the year, it is especially key as the next two events, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Genesis Invitational, are both Signature Events. These are limited-entry events with bigger prize money and additional FedEx Cup points.

The WM Phoenix Open will be played over 72 holes in the traditional individual strokeplay format. The prize fund for this event is $9.6 million.

Event Information

The Phoenix Open was first competed for as the Arizona Open in 1932. It has been a mainstay on the PGA Tour since 1944 and is unique on the circuit for its relaxed, almost raucous atmosphere by professional golf metrics.

The WM Phoenix Open has been played at its current home, TPC Scottsdale, since 1987. The Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale plays as a 7,261-yard, par-71 course.

2026 WM Phoenix Open Odds

2026 WM Phoenix Open odds to win with BetXchange:

It remains astonishing just how short Scottie Scheffler is in these open-field tournaments. Scheffler won here in 2022 and 2023, so he has history at a course where it is typically important to have had previous success to finish with a low score.

Scheffler has played one tournament on the tour this year, The American Express in California two weeks ago. He won that event by five shots. As a result, I am looking at the winner without Scheffler market for value, as Scottie more than justifies his odds of winning, even though there is no value for a punter.

2026 WM Phoenix Open Leading Contenders W/O Scheffler

This is where the value is. Cam Young immediately stands out as an elite driver on a course that leans driver-heavy. If he can continue his form from Torrey Pines and keep gaining strokes on the field from the fairway, then his 19/1 w/o Scottie looks like a potential steal.

Kim finished tied for second at the Farmers Open last week and is on a string of ten consecutive cuts made on tour. That run includes four Top-5 finishes, with the three-time PGA Tour winner looking primed for another victory soon.

2026 WM Phoenix Open Prediction W/O Scheffler

Maverick McNealy is eight favorite in the betting w/o Scheffler. He is coming off a Top-10 finish last time out and is another player who is gaining strokes on the field, especially with his top-notch short game. He has also added power and distance to his driving so far in 2026, all of which add up to a potential win here.

Pick: Maverick McNealy at 51/2

Longshot Pick: Jordan Spieth at 42/1

It is the course history that points me toward Spieth as an outside shot to win here. If you take away a brutal T60 a couple of years ago, Spieth has gone T4 twice and T6 twice in four of his last five visits to TPC Scottdale. That is enough for this course to give a chance of winning.
