Max Verstappen put himself back under the spotlight with a win in Italy, and the still reigning champion is ready for another battle with the leading McLaren duo.
The Dutch has slim chances of defending the crown, but he has to keep on going. And if, by any chance, he wins here in Azerbaijan, that would definitely bring him back into the mix. Keep in mind that this is a street race and that chaos, collision, and safety car are normal, which means we should be ahead of a very, very interesting weekend in Baku.
For all the bettors, here are some F1 odds, provided by BetXchange.
2025 F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix
Max had speed, he had consistency, and above all, his vehicle looked perfectly fine. Not only did he get the pole but drove a very good race in Italy, securing the first triumph since the previous race in this country, which took place in Imola.
What’s crucial here is the mental effect, because he showed that even in the middle of the season, with the McLaren dominating the track, he still has enough power to post a dominant win.

Regarding the duo that battles for the title, Piastri-Norris, the difference between the two is 31 points, which is solid but easily reachable. Max has 94 points fewer than Piastri, and that’s why we say that he needs to triumph here. The street-track factor could play a major role, because, unlike usual track, these are far more unpredictable.
It’s noticeable that Norris has better results lately, and that his vehicle behaves better than Piastri’s. Still, on the other hand, he did have problems in the Netherlands that deprived him of points, which was eventually the difference between him and the Aussie.
Ferrari’s racers also have consistency. However, that consistency refers to being outside the podium. The Prancing Horse is always near, yet so far from getting that spot among the top three, and as time goes by, it becomes more and more visible that the vehicle is highly limited and not competitive with others.

Although it’s not a long-standing Grand Prix, the way it creates buzz due to the street track and the appealing neighborhood in which the race takes place has made the Azerbaijan GP one of the most popular over the past few years.
2025 F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix Predictions
The way things stand at the moment, McLaren has a significant advantage over the rivals, but we’ve mentioned that street-track can be very nasty, which is why we expect to see plenty of surprises. One of them would be George Russell to reach the podium.
We saw the Brit being very solid these days, and has 3rd, 4th, and 5th position in the past three races. Therefore, he has consistency and power to fight for the podium, and with a little luck in this case, we should see the Mercedes driver among the top three places.
- Pick: George Russell to reach podium
