For the third weekend running, there will be exciting Formula 1 action on track this Sunday. It is the third and final leg of a European triple header, and it should be a fascinating British Grand Prix following a dramatic conclusion to last weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix.

But, will Max Verstappen be able to extend his championship lead over Lando Norris when the two reignite their rivalry on track at Silverstone?

Event Details

The British Grand Prix is one of the most famous races on the F1 schedule, as it is one of just two races that has been staged in every edition of the championship. Silverstone has been the home of the race throughout history, with the field competing over a total distance of 306.198km this weekend.

A total of 52 laps will be completed during the race, with drivers having to successfully navigate 18 corners. There are also two DRS Detection Zones to help with overtaking. The current lap record is held by Lewis Hamilton, who completed one circuit in 1:27.369 in 2019.

Latest Odds

Max Verstappen remains the driver to beat according to the BetXchange odds this weekend, with the Dutchman priced up at 14/25. Lando Norris is likely to be his closest threat at 33/13, with McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri priced up at 69/5. George Russell is a 74/5 chance, with Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc priced up at respective prices of 16/1 and 99/4.

Pressure On Verstappen

Verstappen’s advantage at the top of the drivers’ championship remains a healthy one, but the Dutchman has come under fire for his reckless driving in Austria, which spurned not only his chances of victory, but also Lando Norris’. Verstappen was deemed to have been driving ‘desperately’ by his rival, as the two collided on lap 64, resulting in both suffering punctures.

Verstappen was able to carry on to finish fifth, while Norris was forced into an early retirement. It will be fascinating to see whether the two come close to touching once again this weekend.

McLaren Look Chief Danger

The McLaren was fast throughout the weekend in Austria, and Norris likely should have won the Grand Prix before colliding with Verstappen. Oscar Piastri was also quick throughout the weekend, finishing second in both the Sprint and Grand Prix.

This weekend will be a huge one for the team once again, and Norris will already be dreaming of victory in his home race. A positive result this weekend could be massive for their season goals, as they currently sit 20 points of Ferrari in the Constructors’ Championship, and well within sight of Red Bull.

British Grand Prix Prediction

The battle at the top of the grid looks to be between McLaren and Red Bull once again this weekend, despite a rare success for George Russell in Austria last time out. The Silverstone circuit could be perfectly tailored to Norris and his car this weekend, and we could see him winning his home race for the first time.

Pick: Lando Norris at 33/13 with BetXchange.
