The first of an Americas triple-header in Formula 1 takes place this weekend as Austin hosts the United States Grand Prix.
A big points-winning weekend is up for grabs in both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships, with a Sprint Race also set for Saturday.
But, can Lando Norris maintain his dominant form to put further pressure on three-time reigning world champion Max Verstappen?
United States Grand Prix Information
The United States Grand Prix will be staged at the Circuit of the Americas this weekend. The first race at its current home was staged in 2012, with the field completing 56 laps of the 5.513km circuit.
Drivers will have two DRS Detection Zones to aid with overtaking, with the first being found in between corners ten and eleven, and the second between turns 18 and 19.
Charles Leclerc holds the lap record of 1:36.169, while Lewis Hamilton is the most successful driver with ten wins.
United States Grand Prix Odds
The BetXchange odds for the United States Grand Prix this weekend show Lando Norris to be the 1/1 favourite. Max Verstappen is second choice in the betting at 22/5, while Oscar Piastri is available at 99/20.
Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton are priced up at 58/9 and 31/2, respectively. George Russell, Carlos Sainz, and Sergio Perez complete the drivers priced under 100/1.
Pressure on Red Bull
There will be increased pressure on Red Bull in the U.S. this weekend, as they have lost ground on McLaren in the Constructors’ Championship race, and could slip to third this weekend if Ferrari have an excellent weekend.
Max Verstappen’s advantage in the Drivers’ Championship remains a healthy one, and he did an excellent job of limiting the damage in Singapore when finishing second behind Lando Norris.
Oscar Piastri ensured an excellent weekend for McLaren by taking third, with Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Perez finishing back in tenth. Norris will need wins in all remaining races and Verstappen to finish off the podium on one occasion to win a first World Championship.
Ferrari Set For Big Weekend, New Era at RB
It will be a big weekend for Ferrari. The team already looks to have third place wrapped up in the Constructors’ standings, but they are just 34 points adrift of Red Bull. Charles Leclerc maintained his excellent recent form on track by taking fifth in Singapore, while they have also won a race in the last three to go with their three podiums.
A new era gets underway for RB this weekend, with Yuki Tsunoda joined in the pit lane by Liam Lawson. The Kiwi was announced as the full-time replacement for Daniel Ricciardo, who took the fastest lap on his final start in Formula One in the latest round.
United States Grand Prix Prediction
Victories in both the Sprint and Grand Prix this weekend will enable McLaren to dream of title success for Norris. The car has looked strong since the summer break, and we could see them landing a famous double this weekend. Charles Leclerc could pile the pressure on Red Bull by claiming a podium finish.
