But for now, perhaps we can make some betting predictions based on each pools performance.
Pool A
The “pool of death” has already had a small upset with Wales narrowly beating England 28 -25, leaving the host in some doubt as to whether they will make the quarter finals.
Australia – World Ranking of 2
Won the Rugby World Cup in 1991 and 1999
Betting odds of 15/2 to be Rugby World Cup Winner
England – World Ranking of 4
Won the Rugby World Cup in 2003
Betting odds of 8/1 to be Rugby World Cup Winner
Wales – World Ranking of 5
Came third on the 1987 Rugby World Cup
Betting odds of 25/1 to be Rugby World Cup Winner
Fiji – World Ranking of 9
Reached the Quarterfinals in 1987 and 2007.
Betting odds of 1000/1 to be Rugby World Cup Winner
Betting on Wales and Australia to go through would probably be wisest in this pool, but don’t rule out England as if they beat Australia they will be right back in the position to top the pool. Similarly if Fiji cause an upset and beat Wales (who have had a string of injuries to key players) then the group is wide open again.
Pool B
This pool was supposed to be an easy pool for the likes of the Springboks and Scotland, however the brave blossom of Japan have other ideas and caused a massive upset when they beat South Africa in their opening match.
South Africa – World Ranking of 3
Won the Rugby World Cup in 1995 and 2007
Betting odds of 8/1 to be Rugby World Cup Winner
Scotland – World Ranking of 10
Came fourth in the 1991 Rugby World Cup
Betting odds of 100/1 to be Rugby World Cup Winner
Samoa – World Ranking of 12

Betting odds of 600/1 to be Rugby World Cup Winner
Japan – World Ranking of 13
Came third in their pool in 1991
Betting odds of 750/1 to be Rugby World Cup Winner
USA – World Ranking of 15
Came third in their pool in 1987, 2003 and 2011
Betting odds of 1000/1 to be Rugby World Cup Winner
The Springboks had a convincing performance against Samoa and the winner of the group will more than likely be decided when the Springboks face Scotland.
Betting on South Africa and Scotland to go through would probably make the most sense, even after South Africas upset to Japan.
