In a riveting French Open final, Novak Djokovic beat the Scotsman 3-6 6-1 6-2 6-4 to win his 12th major title. Murray was hoping to win his 3rd career Slam after winning both Wimbledon and the US Open, but unfortunately for him it was not to be fulfilled.
Murray played brilliantly to win the first set but could not convert a break point early in the second set. This gave Djokovic a chance to control the match and he won it in three hours.
In a defining moment in Tennis, Djokovic became only the eighth man in tennis history to have won all four sports major’s singles titles, however, not in the same year. Only Rod Laver has ever won all four slams in the same calendar year.
Could 2016 be the year that Djokovic matches Lavers record and goes on to win four Grand Slam Titles?
