The replay of last year’s Wimbledon finals is scheduled for this Sunday afternoon. Carlos Alcaraz meets Novak Djokovic in the battle of the two best tennis players in the world at the moment. Last year the young Spaniard took Djokovic’s scalp, which was the revenge for the Roland Garros loss. Novak wants to even things now, and reach his 25th Grand Slam title, which would make him the best in this category in both men’s and women’s competition.

According to BetXchange’s odds, Alcaraz is a solid favorite, and you can see that on this link.

Carlos Alcaraz VS Novak Djokovic Preview

Alcaraz

Carlos is the reigning Wimbledon champion. That was his second Grand Slam title, and ever since, the young Spaniard hasn’t shined as expected. However, his morale is pretty high right now because he came to London following a win in Paris, where he lifted the Roland Garros trophy.

Apart from the opening two rounds in which he swept his rivals, Alcaraz gave up at least one set in each of his four remaining events. He lost the opening sequence against Medvedev in the semis, but came back to trash the Russian rival, sending a strong message to Djokovic before the finals.

He didn’t have such a tough draw until the semis. The first round saw him beat Lajal, then Vukic, before playing five sets against Frances Tiafoe, who gave him a hard time. After that it was Humbert in the round of 16, then Tommy Paul and Medvedev.

Djokovic

Novak sliced Musetti in the semis, winning in straight sets and playing very good tennis overall. He once again clashed with the fans, but that’s something Novak wants because he generates power from a hostile environment. After a long time, he is the one who wants conflict and reacts to even the smallest provocation.

Djokovic didn’t play the quarterfinal game because Alex De Minaur withdrew due to an injury. Previously, the Serb champion beat Kopriva in the opening round, 3-0, then allowed Fearnley and Popyrin a set each before rolling over Rune in the round of 16.

Novak looks fresh despite his knee struggles and recent surgery. Many wonder if that wounded knee can sustain challenges in the finals, and for the moment, we can’t claim that, but overall, we haven’t seen Novak having the slightest problem with that issue since the start of the tournament.

Alcaraz VS Djokovic Head to Head

These two guys played five official matches so far. Djokovic has three wins, and Carlos has two. The Spaniard won at the ATP Masters in Madrid and the Wimbledon finals last year, while Novak beat him in the 2023 French Open finals and the most recent two events, in Cincinnati and at the ATP Nitto Finals.

Alcaraz VS Djokovic Predictions

Novak did beat Carlos in the last two battles, but on the other side, the Spaniard is injury-free unlike the Serbian. We can’t say that either of the players fully dominated throughout the tournament, but on the other side, we need to say that Carlos’ part of the draw was slightly tougher than Novak’s. Overall, we won’t bet on the winner but take over 39.5 games, as we expect to see quite a battle with four long sets at least.
