Action will resume on Saturday when the Griquas host the Bulls in Kimberley and the Cheetahs face the Lions in Bloemfontein with all the teams looking respective wins to boost their positions on the log.

Pumas VS Sharks

The Pumas thumped the Lions by a big score in their second match of the competition but subsequent losses to Griquas and the Cheetahs mean they will be desperate for a good performance against the high-flying Sharks.

Sharks coach Etienne Fynn has named an experienced side for this important clash against the unpredictable Pumas at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Friday night.

With no United Rugby Championship action this weekend for South African teams, an opening has opened for Currie Cup allowing Fynn to include a number of experienced players in the team.

The Bulls have selected a strong side where a number of players who featured in last weekend’s United Rugby Championship win over Zebre Parma in Italy turning out.

Captain Marcell Coetzee, will spearhead the star-studded team which includes, among others, Kurt-Lee Arendse, Cornal Hendricks, Chris Smith and Embrose Papier in the backline.

Cheetahs VS Lions

The hosts have called up speedster Malcolm Jaer to replace the injured Springbok wing Rosco Specman.

Jaer’s inclusion is one of a number of rotational changes made by coach Hawies Fourie as the Free Staters look to continue with their impressive run.

Lions coach Mziwakhe Nkosi has named a strong match 23 which features the explosive centre combination of Tyler Bocks and James Mollentze.

Experienced flyhalf Fred Zelinga has been tasked with spearheading the attack, as flyer Rabz Maxwane starts on the right wing against his former team.
