EFC 68 Preview and Betting odds

Van Staden vs Hughes

In what turns out to be quite a bitter sweet turn of events for the great Don Madge has created a great opportunity for another. Madge relinquished his EFC title due to a once in a lifetime opportunity in Las Vegas. This has opened up the space for his team mate Martin van Staden to face the number one contender, Gavin Hughes for the available championship.

Van Staden is a veteran of the EFC with over 30 fights under his belt. He has fought for the welterweight title twice and now is competing in the lightweight division, he is  heavy handed with 18 TKO/KO wins in his 25 victories, his last three victories have come via TKO. Gavin Hughes, hailing from Liverpool, is a man who is undefeated in his last 9 MMA fights. Known for his warrior physicality, exceptional hand speed and striking skills, this is a man to beat.

Prediction: Given Hughes’s 12 wins in a row and zero losses, it seems unlikely that this will be his first loss.

Current EFC Betting odds:

  • Van Staden (19/20)
  • Gavin Hughes (17/20)

Mazany versus Bright

Bright, makes his much-anticipated come-back to the cage against American Dave “Pain Train” Mazany at Grand West on Saturday 31 March. Bright knows his American opponent will be a tough challenge and considers him among the best in the lightweight division, but believes that is what makes this fight worth all the time and effort. Said Bright in a recent interview: ““We have a specific game plan and have been hammering on that”.

Bright is undefeated in EFC with 6 straight wins with 4 of these via submission. His strength is his submission game but he can go the distance in stand up too with his clean boxing style.

Mazany is no stranger to EFC having won and defended the title belt at EFC 51 and 55. He is a skilled wrestler and is extremely physical.

Prediction: Global experience and physicality are on Mazany’s side. Together with his world class wrestling skills, it would be no surprise if he took the title.

Current EFC Betting odds:

  • Mazany (6/10)
  • Bright (12/10)
