The Nedbank Cup will kick-off with the first match of the last 32 on Friday afternoon between Pretoria University and Chippa United in Pretoria.

This year’s it will be a celebration of 15 years of the tournament that has over the years produced shock results during meetings of big and small teams and has produced surprise champions.

The Nedbank Cup has also contributed to the development of domestic football by providing amateur teams with an opportunity to compete against top-tier teams.

In the past, football fans have witnessed historic wins by small teams TS Galaxy and Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) who against all odds went all the way to be crowned champions and earn the opportunity of competing in the CAF Confederations Cup.

Chippa United will be favourites to progress to the next round against GladAfrica Championship side Pretoria University (Tuks) who have been blowing hot and cold in the National First Division (NFD) this season.
