The Proteas play in a must win game against the West Indies on Friday 25 March having lost their opening fixture against England they bounced back to beat Afghanistan but need to beat the unbeaten West Indies side in order to keep their semi-final chances alive.
Conditions
The match is taking place in Nagpur which is a completely different pitch to the high scoring ground in Mumbai. New Zealand successfully defended 126 at Nagpur in the opening game against India. So it is thought that the pitch will be slow and spinner friendly.
South Africa
The Proteas are without JP Duminy which is a concern as he offers a very useful bowling option and is the Proteas top performing T20 batsman.
The slow pitch will favour spin, so Phangiso will likely be called in to replace either Weise or Morris, with Rilee Rossouw taking the place of Duminy as a front line batter.
West Indies
The West Indies have had 2 comfortable wins over England and Sri Lanka. Chris Galye is looking in great batting form and is cleared to play after a slight hamstring strain. Samuel Bandree bowled superbly against Sri Lanka and could cause real problems on a turning wicket.
Key Players
For South Africa, Quinten de Kock is at the top of the order and AB de Villiers can be extremely destructive against any bowling attack. While Imran Tahir can turn a game around with his superb spin variations.
For West Indies, Chris Gayle can take the game away from any team with his powerful batting. The spin twins of Benn and Bandree could be the difference if they are able to get some turn.
