Three UEFA Champions League matches are on today’s menu. The most interesting one is in Milan, where Inter awaits Real Madrid. Bayern Munich hosts Red Bull Salzburg, while Porto visits Olympique Marseille.
Inter Milan vs. Real Madrid Preview
Nerazzurri once again flipped the match in the domestic championship, defeating Torino 4-2 after being behind at halftime, 0-2. This was the first win for the Italians following four straight matches without one, and only the second in the past nine.
In five games at home, Inter has two wins and draws with one loss, and all those games saw both teams scoring and over 2.5 goals.
Real Madrid has two in a row without a win, suffering a terrible defeat in Valencia 4-1, before playing 1-1 against Villarreal on the road. The match in Milan will be their third consecutive on the road.
Lately, that is a problem for Zidane’s boys. Prior to these two, they couldn’t beat Borussia Monchengladbach, 2-2, meaning that they hadn’t won away from Bernabeu for almost a month. All those games saw both teams scoring.
That will be our prediction for this event, with the addition that we expect to see over 2.5 goals as well. Odds for this at BetXChange are at 0.72.
Bayern Munich vs. Red Bull Salzburg Preview
The Bavarians are the best team in Europe, and they tend to demonstrate power in every single opportunity they have. However, they suffered a shock this weekend in the Bundesliga, when Werder Bremen took one point away from Allianz Arena after 10 wins in a row, all of them with at least two goals scored, Bayern finally slipped.
Up until this event, the European champs had four games in Munich, and they won all with a total goal difference of 21-3.
Red Bull, the most dominant team in Austria over the past decade and even more, is in a crisis, winning just one in the past five games. The latest defeat was against Sturm Graz at home, 1-3, which was the third match in a row they hadn’t won.
The efficiency of their contests is high, and four of the previous five were over 3.5 scores or both teams netting.
Having in mind that Bayern failed to deliver, and that it happened at home, we need to expect a regrouping and with the highest possible sense of urgency. That is pretty bad news for the guests, who will experience the full power and terror of the Bundesliga powerhouse. Bayern’s win by three or more goals is 1.20 at BetXChange.
Olympique Marseille vs. Porto Preview
The home team has all three losses in the Champions League, and is hammered to the bottom of the standings. Furthermore, the French side hasn’t scored a single goal in the competition. This week Olympique defeated Strasbourg in the domestic league, 0-1, and that was the fifth straight match in which the former European champions participated with goals being scored by just one side.
Porto is in a bit better shape, with five wins in the last six events, losing only to Manchester City at Etihad, 3-2. Though, if we check only the games played on the road, things aren’t that great with the Dragons winning just two in the past five, losing twice, and drawing against Sporting 2-2. Four of these games saw over 3.5 goals.
We believe in the guests’ quality, and in our opinion, they won’t lose Wednesday’s clash. The odds on a double chance, draw, or Porto are 0.40 at BetXChange.
