WTA Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open Bet Preview

Date(s): 6th – 12th February 2023

The WTA Tour sees the spring gulf swing get underway with the inaugural Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open in the UAE. Last month’s Australian Open saw yet another name make their way onto the major winner’s list in the women’s game, with Aryna Sabalenka emerging victorious in Melbourne and there will be whole host of big names looking to gather momentum ahead of the remaining three Grand Slams in 2023.

Coming straight onto the WTA Tour as a WTA 500 event, the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open has attracted a stellar field for its first incarnation and it promises to be a fascinating week of tennis in the gulf.

With some of the best players in the world in action, it promises to be a week of high-quality tennis in Abu Dhabi.

Here are some our tips for the title in the UAE this week:

Ons Jabeur – 4/1 – Tunisian Ons Jabeur is the top seed here in Abu Dhabi and she should relish the chance to get on court and demonstrate her A game. Australian Open disappointment is sure to be her inspiration here, as she looks to put in some big performances in pursuit of that elusive first Grand Slam.

Elena Rybakina – 6/1 – Having lost out in the final of the Australian Open last week, Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina is forging a reputation for raising her game in the biggest events and she is currently in fine form. Conditions should suit here and she could be in the running from the outset.

Belinda Bencic – 8/1 – Swiss superstar Belinda Bencic is seen by many as an unfulfilled talent, but she is starting to show real signs of consistency and if the draw is relatively kind to her here, she could be a great outside shout in Abu Dhabi this week.

Danielle Collins – 10/1 – Few players on the WTA Tour are as combative as Danielle Collins and she enjoys the battle in every game she plays. The American has displayed patchy form over the past few months, but she is too good to stay quiet for long.

Veronika Kudermetova – 10/1 – Emerging Russian Veronika Kudermetova is one of the cleanest ball strikers around and having cracked the top 10 in the world at the back end of 2022, she looks to be a good shout in any event she plays currently.

Paula Badosa – 12/1 – Spaniard Paula Badosa has slipped out of the world’s top 10 in recent times but she is a precocious talent who always tends to raise her game when it matters. She is another that will enjoy the hard courts in Abu Dhabi, and she could sneak under the radar this week.

Jelena Ostapenko – 16/1 – Former French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko was in fine fettle in the run up to the Australian Open and she will be eager to rekindle that here in Abu Dhabi. Another undoubted talent, Ostapenko is a player to watch in a packed draw.

Bianca Andreescu 20/1 – Canadian Bianca Andreescu has battled hard with injury over the past 12 months or so but her US Open win back in 2019 was not that long ago and she will be eager to showcase her obvious quality in Abu Dhabi this week.
