Chelsea has defeated Arsenal tonight, and won the Europa League trophy for the second time in its history. Blues’ hurricane in the opening 15 minutes of the second half solved everything. With three goals, Maurizio Sarri’s team clinched a trophy which dramatically increases prospects for his staying in London.

Eden Hazard and Olivier Giroud played a superb game, sealing one of the greatest success of their career. This was also the last match in Chelsea’s jersey for the Belgian international, as he probably leaves the club at the end of the season, and goes to Real Madrid.

Following a dull and uninteresting first half in which we haven’t seen any excitement besides Giroud’s shot, the second 45 minutes brought us a festival of goals and chances.

Olivier Giroud broke the lock of Arsenal’s defense in the 48th minute with an inch-perfect header placed in the lower right corner of Cech’s goal.

Eleven minutes after that, Pedro double the lead on Hazard’s assist, becoming the first ever player who scored in the finals of the Europa League, Champions League, and UEFA Super Cup.

It was the 65th minute when Giroud forced one of Arsenal’s players to bring him down in the box. Eden Hazard took the responsibility and calmly converted the penalty kick giving his team a three-goal lead.

Alex Iwobi decreased the lead four minutes after, but that lasted only for 180 seconds, before Hazard netted his second score of the night.

Both sides had a couple of more chances to change the result, but nothing happened.

For Arsenal, this loss is a huge blow, not only because of this trophy but because they won’t play in the Champions League next year.

As for Chelsea, they saved the season with this piece of silverware.
